At the end of may, one of my buyers opened an item not received case for something that they purchased on April 25th. I checked the tracking number on it and I swear to god, i remember specifically that the last update said "arriving late" at the beginning of may, then nothing after that (and it was May 30th when the case was opened.)
I gave the person a refund and apologized, but today I was looking through old cases on eBay (not really even sure why), and I noticed that the tracking for this one now shows that it was actually picked up at a PO box on may 7th. I'm just CERTAIN that it didn't say that when I looked at the tracking on may 30th.
I'm really confused now, and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this? my conspiracy theory mind has me wondering if it it had to do with the PO box? i've never had one so idk exactly how they work, can tracking be weird or exploitable by buyers when dealing with a PO box?
Or.. am i just going insane? hahah

Hi theleyline....was the item shipped priority or ground? I've had some retail ground pieces take twice as long as usual, it's possible when he complained about not receiving it that you jumped the gun on an early refund? And THEN his package arrived? Does the tracking show that they had a failed attempted delivery or that he requested it forward to his p.o. box?
At any rate, there isn't much you can do about it now except email the buyer and ask if he would be willing to return the item since he got refunded....good luck!

It was shipped first class, and yeah it's possible that I misread it but I feel so sure that on may 30th, "arriving late on may 5th" was it's last update, and now it's shows "picked up at po box on may 7th" above it. I just don't know how I could have missed that xD The tracking doesn't show anything about failed delivery or it being forwarded.
But yeah, I know there's not much I can do now, but I'm still kind of mystified lol

Did you enter the tracking number in the resolution center or did you just refund the buyer? If the item was delivered to the PO Box on the 5th, the tracking should have shown it as delivered and there was no reason to refund the buyer on May 30th.

Not sure, but it could also be a USPS tracking delay. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen. And the buyer could have noticed and decided to take advantage of that.
Again, this is just a guess. Regardless, you are right and there's nothing you can do aside from asking the buyer to pay you for it or return the item. Ebay doesn't consider that buyer harassment.

Once the refund is given the case is closed.
Over and done.
No looking back when it can't be fixed anyway.
Moving forward.

If there is a tracking issue check it on the USPS website before you do anything else. Or trust the Ebay site to be the final say. Andrew

Since tracking now shows that the purchase has been delivered, send the buyer a cheerful message noting the delivery and including a Paypal invoice for the original price.
Keep in mind that porch pirates do exist, and there is also the legendary "check inside the BBQ" habit of carriers to hide deliveries in odd places.
But I've found that slightly over half of my "INR" customers are willing to pay for the item once received, they just don't know how to do that. Sending the PP invoice helps.
