Weather the storm Stay on Ebay!

I urge all you sellers that have been complaining of poor sales and increasing fees to hold your course.  Stay on Ebay and continue to drop your prices.  Keep paying those ever increasing fees for everything.  Ebay does care about you.  You are the people that have helped to make this company successful.  Buy now, I hope you can see I am being sarcastic.  Recently, my sales have bottomed out also.

I have tried everything, lowering prices, adding new items, combining items, changing listing duration, ending listings and re-listing them new, with no success.  I have recently transferred a lot of my "dead" Ebay items to other sites, with great(and I mean great) success.  I currently sell in 1 day(on just one other platform) than what I have been averaging in 1 month on Ebay recently.

I thought my business mattered to Ebay.  I have been selling here for over 10 years, 3500 100% positive feedbacks, do everything right.  Does it really matter?

Think about this:

The top seller on Ebay averages 5,000 feedbacks a day!  They have nearly 2,000,000 feedbacks.  And there are dozens of other big sellers that have similar sales figures.  I can see that I am a really small fish in this pond all of a sudden.  All of my hard work and dedication to be a great seller seems to be overshadowed by volume sellers.

So, I urge all you small sellers to stand toe to toe with these big guys and give them a good fight to the end(which is coming sooner than you think).  Frankly, I don't need the competition on those other sites.  Good Luck To All!

Like I said originally, I have transferred about half of my stuff to other sites.  What you see is the leftovers.  The good stuff is on other sites.

I also list on 4 sites simultaneously. It sells here first about half the time.  You cant beat name recognition.

Re: Weather the storm Stay on Ebay!

You are so right. I've busted my butt meeting their requirements to hold top seller status and it seems like every time them make changes it always results in less sales and more work. I can't cut my prices any more. With the shipping costs having gone up and the fee increases if I lower my prices any more I will be literally be paying to sell my stuff. I would be better off donating it. This last thing with the fixed priced items all being a mandatory 30 day posting will most likely finish me off here. Items are most seen in the first and last 24 hours of the listing term. Meaning that for 28 days of that 30 day period items will be less and less seen. I know eBay does not care about my small amount of sales but if it effects enough of the small sellers this way they will notice. I will be looking for another venue. And when I am asked I sure will discourage any of my friends from starting to sell on eBay.

Hey Divwido, do your eBay pompoms ever get too heavy to bare?

This is a community forum, and no one is forcing you to read the posts either. People are upset, some of us a scared. A mandatory change that hurts our business is a big deal.  You don't have to agree with us, in fact, constructive criticism is often welcomed.   Here's some: posting in giant fire engine red letters is like screaming and stomping out of the room.  It makes everyone glad you left!

Re: Weather the storm Stay on Ebay!

I took a look and it may not be prices.  You have quite an eclectic collection there. Some the prices may be too high some there are no market some there are just so many others offered.  Have you tried charging the shipping separately rather than offering free?

I also have to wonder why you haven't already sold those elsewhere say on a site that is all about books.

Which brings me to a larger point: not all the other sites sell every kind of item.  Some have to be a certain age, some only clothing items, etc  a couple NO BOOKS.

Really? TWENTY FIVE PERCENT and MANDATORY $7 shipping on one site? And NONE of them give you the money until the item shows delivered and a couple only after you get a rating from the buyer and you give one in return.
