We need a "Pause" button on Sold items ...

We need a "Pause" button on Sold items for post sale issues.  One issue that has come up regularly on The Community is Buyers asking for a delayed shipment AFTER they purchase because they plan to be away.  There are other scenarios that this might help like details required for a custom item or size on clothing, etc., etc.

The problem Sellers have is that Buyers are blind to all the eBay metrics they to conform to in order to maintain the Selling status.  The venue makes no provisions for Sellers to "enhance the buying experience" if a post sale issue needs to be resolve prior to shipment.  The Pause button would suspend the handling time requirement until such time that the Buyer and Seller work out the issue.  This could also be beneficial to Sellers for localized weather events (ice-snow storms, tornadoes, wild fires, floods, etc.) that do not impact a large enough area for eBay to suspend handling time like they do with major storms like hurricanes, blizzards, etc.

This was posted on a recent Weekly Chat and passed on to some department for future consideration ... hopefully they impliment it ...

" The Pause button would suspend the handling time requirement until such time that the Buyer and Seller work out the issue."

And how could eBay ensure that it's not falsely being used by a seller?

?

You are always welcome to add your suggestions ... I am sure they would put limits in place to avoid the very thing you mention ... and one I already thought of but didn't bother to mention is for Sellers on the Everday Rate plan trying to use it circumvent the lack of Vacation settings while they are away.

I envision needing this as a rare event ... we may have benefited from  it just a few times last year.  They could make it like 1 or 2 per month or whatever they decide ...

eBay already allows for a percentage of late shipments without penalty, up to 3% for TRS and up to 7% for all others. How often to buyers ask you to delay shipping?

Re: We need a "Pause" button on Sold items ...

@slippinjimmy  This is to address late shipments caused by Buyers NOT those caused by Sellers ... and oh, there are also those caused by eBay & USPS when their API software fails to share the Acceptance scan info with each other.  I had two from Oct 27 that took just over 60 days before they simply dropped off ... I was close to digging out the receipt with the Acceptance scan confirmation when they simply vanished ...

Re: We need a "Pause" button on Sold items ...

On a related issue.....  I sold an item local pickup but the buyer was going away for several weeks.  He paid with PayPal.  He picked up the item like we agreed.   Hub shows one item awaiting shipment but I will not mark shipped because he picked up.  There is no tracking.  I know ebay allows a percentage for this scenario.  There should be another option when an item purchased is picked up.  Penalized for offering great customer service.

It's covers BOTH because "cause" is not relevant.

Why not mark it shipped? What are you waiting for? If the buyer selected local pick-up when they went through checkout the transaction doesn't count for or against your on-time shipping metrics.

Re: We need a "Pause" button on Sold items ...

@doubledz-a2z  Actually, eBay provides the "Mark item shipped" on the pull down menu for Local Pick up as well as other uses.  I asked about it early on and that what I was advised to do ... I had one sold in late July and picked up in October and like you, customer used PayPal ... when we reached the 60 day I marked it shipped just to get it off the unshipped record ... Buyer had no issue with that.

Re: We need a "Pause" button on Sold items ...

@slippinjimmy  Regardless of "cause" count IS critical so there is absolutely no reason a Seller should take an avoidable hit because a Buyer POST PURCHASE asks for something special.  And count in some instances "could" affect a low volume Seller's defect rate and put them over the 3% ...
