I would like to know if anyone else is having this problem with their listings:
It started in September when I noticed an item sold that had previously sold. Then in October I a few more sold that had previously sold. November and December I noticed dozens of my listings had duplicated ALL BY THEMSELVES. This month I have spent countless hours going over my 400+ listings, seeing in many many instances they are duped - not only duped in my active listings - but dozens and dozens of dupes in my unsold listings which I NEVER PUT THERE and they were current listings that should not have populated into the unsold and/or ended items. One item was duped 25 times. When I called eBay I was told I must have relisted and/or ended them early!!!!!!!! I have been selling on eBay since 2003 - while I can make an occasional error, I could never ever have done anything to cause this level of chaos.
I have a few friends who are sellers, and they all said items have duped on them in the last few months, but nothing as egregious as mine.
I would appreciate and and all feedback/suggestions.
Regards
John

With all due respect - I am not doing this. They even relist by themselves with different prices AND get this - different ebay ID numbers, which is why eBay blamed me for relisting them !! It's getting to be a joke - they NEVER take blame.
I oversee an ebay store with 15,000 plus listings. We are constantly refreshing old listings (3 months or more) to keep them "current" and not get dropped to the bottom of the queue on eBay. With that said - We have noticed dozens of dupes occurring with increasing regularity lately. I personally have been going over each and every listing methodically. After ~3,000 items looked at as of yesterday I have found 42 dupes and 180 items HAD BEEN DROPPED for no reason by eBay. Items we thought were still listed but just vanished. At this rate I may find 800-1000 listings GONE.

I cannot address the cause of this, but here is an online tool to help you find and weed out duplicate listings. You don't even need to log in to your eBay account.

Its a long time problem and happens to many sellers. I delete my unsolds when I know the listing is back up. The only other things you can do is watch the listed numbers, you know how many you list and sell and if the number suddenly gains on its own then an item has been relisted automatically by ebay. Its happened to me to I sell one offs I never have anything but quantity 1 and found one once that got put back up with quantity 37! They blamed me to! You also have to be aware they end listings without warning. I've heard from many sellers they found items they found items in their listed inventory that were no longer listed. So you really have to watch the listing total daily like a hawke. You can also run the duplicate listing tool you can find it on google.

I call user error on this, I had a look at some of your remaining Auctions, found some duplicate Auctions that were listed a few days apart and at slightly different prices.
When an Auction listing does not sell are you using "relist" or "sell similar" when you list them again?
Into your life it will creep

Its a well known glitch that has been around for several years. I have discover about 2 to 4 sold items that just appear on my actual listings, even though that I have already sold them.
I usually check my items every 2 weeks or so, looking for duplicates.

I've noticed sold or currently listed items on my Unsold page. I can usually weed them out and delete them.
And it doesn't take much for eBay chaos... I'm showing a .19% defect rate. That's one item out of 518... because I had to cancel a sale for this very same reason! I'm a top rated seller, and it says I will be rated at "Above Standard" because of it! ☹️

While there may be some user error going on too, this problem has existed for decades and has been complained about over and over by many sellers, some of whom have been hurt by duplicated listings of Sold items.
I go over my listings about once a month looking for duplications, and find one or two every time.
But that does not solve the problem of a OOAK item that sells and then months later relists.

Same here: I go over my listings at least once a week to check for duplication and items sold that revert to out of stock.
The odd thing is I don't use the out of stock option but it randomly turns on...several times over the last few years.
I use the tool that varebelrose posted:
