Wait time for delivery confirmation

I had sold an item about a week ago and used the ebay shipping label with tracking to send the item to the buyer(jul 26). The item was shipped back to me the next day(27th) because I mistakenly chose the wrong type of box size and price, but I went to the post office the next morning (28th)to ship the item and providing that tracking number with the item. This was a 4 day process (Jul 26-29) in which the item was delivered on the 29th, but being that the first tracking number from ebay is still showing on the transaction, the item still isn't being shown as delivered 3 days after delivery confirmation from the buyer.

Why isn't it possible to remove the first tracking number provided by ebay shipping? and How long does it take for ebay to actually confirm delivery themselves?

Your buyer has his doohickey?

Did he leave positve feedback?

Don't worry about it.

Eventually the system will correct itself.

For sure do NOT contact the buyer about this.

Delivery confirmation is a Seller Protection.

Although your buyer is probably honest, don't tempt him with the idea that he might get a free thing by saying the doohickey was Not Received.

I assume that you have a hold on your money for this transaction?  If  I understand the situation correctly, I don't see how ebay would be able to confirm delivery if there is now a different tracking number on the package that they don't know about.

Are you sure that you can't change the tracking number on the transaction?  You should be able to go to that transaction in your sold items, click edit next to the tracking number and put in a new number.    If you are having problems changing it on ebay, try changing it on the transaction on paypal and see if it carries over.

Yes the buyer confirmed with me that the item has arrived and gave positive feedback. But the first tracking number is still saying pre-shipment while the second tracking number says delivered. I just dont understand why ebay isnt just going with the second tracking number & confirming the delivery as well

If the post office issued your second tracking number over the counter, eBay would have no record of that one. Find the item in your Sold listings on your My eBay page, click the Add/Edit link next to the old tracking number, and add the replacement number to that transaction. The original one can't be deleted, but you should be able to add the second one.

I added the second tracking number to the item so the buyer and ebay can see, but I could not delete the first tracking number that came from the ebay shipping label. Both tracking numbers can be seen when checking the shipping details and the second one confirms delivery from the usps, but it seems that ebay is just going based on the first tracking number that only says pre-shipment.

Yes I added the second tracking number the same day the item shipped. But being that the first tracking number from ebay can't be deleted, it's being said that the item is just marked as shipped.

You won't be able to remove the first one 
as long as your 2nd one is showing delivered then your fine

I'm not getting what you want Ebay to do?  The 2nd # shows delivered.........  is there a problem with a money hold?  a late shipment ding on the dashboard?
