WHY must they keep playing with the code?

So I just got home from the hospital, and see that VIEWS has been limited to only 30 days. I would much rather see that I had an item listed for a year with 1456 views and 2 watch! I AM smart enough to average that out myself!
I also hate the new listing page design. To many drop down question this or that and MUST FILL selection. It also take sup too much real estate and involves more pan-n-scan of the page than necessary.

E-bay is not the only one. So my question is "What 12 year olds with no usage experience do they hire to do code these websites and applications?" Or maybe more accurately, WHO do they survey when the movie is premiered?

LEAVE THINGS ALONE!!!!!!!

@dash-1505

If you click on the highlighted "views" you can change it to what ever works for your shop.

Because they are paid to do things... kinda like a mechanic who fixes your car and breaks something else so you come back and have to have new item fixed.  JOB SECURITY 🖥

Everytime Ebay makes a change it usually turns into a disaster.  I remember when the item specifics fiasco a few years back took place and Listings were being deleted as well as other information in our listings.  Ebay needs to hire Competent people starting with the top.  The CEO should have a good understanding of IT and E-Commerce.  Devin Wenig was the absolute worst and came very close to running ebay into the ground. The solution? Send Wenig off into the sunset with 40 million dollars.

The Current Management makes all kinds of promises and does nothing and when they do something, well you know? I wish ebay would stop hiring Walmart people to run the company.

I thought these folks were from Toys-R-Nothing.
If they would quit paying for updates - I bet WE could get a 10% SELLER FEE DISCOUNT!

If they would just engage the user base.

Incorrect, Views are limited to TWO YEARS, the default display is 30 days because seriously what use is it to know how many views you had a year or two or five or ten years ago.

I get a kick out of all the people who want the previous listing tool brought back. It's the listing system that sellers hated when it was introduced and people wanted the previous one back.

I've seen this movie repeat itself over and over again going all the way back to Sell Your Item 2.0 which was about TWO DECADES ago.

I've never encountered such a bunch of people so resistant to change (of any sort).

Imagine if eBay decided to setup a process to listen to sellers on what is broken and needed fixed and what improvements and changes seller said they wanted and needed.

I believe the current process is the eBay development team imagines what changes are needed and gives it to sellers (without seller input). If changes are off mark or a complete disaster, sellers can tell each other about it amongst themselves and ask moderators to take notice and please let an eBay decision maker know that sellers have concerns. Until seller input is more than an eBay annoyance - nothing will change.

Just because your business model does not care about historic data, mine does. If only for yuks. But yet you impart your wisdom like I'm some sort of adolescent fool. I've seen this "in my opinion" film a million times too.

So you believe in change just for the H of it - even though no change was necessary or proves to be an improvement. In fact, can be detrimental to productivity such as these "improvements".  For instance, why should it take 3 moves to switch from HTML to standard or back?

And that still does not answer the question as to WHOM they survey or test with before making the change.

(and just why does the video have to be in 2nds position??) [for that matter - where is a re-use button for existing videos?] So many questions.

I do believe you hit upon it. I'm not saying they need 1000 opinionated morons telling them what to do. But a sampling from many types of stores/sellers/buyers.FUNCTIONALITY is just as important as new toys.

When I do database work, I get input from actually a majority of users. There's nothing like a wall full of post-it-notes during a meeting.

I only bring all this up because a heretofore UN-named museum I worked for spent over $80K to get a website built. Total fail! - Then the lawsuits prevailed.

Doing it Right(er) the first time is my obsession!

WHY must they keep playing with the code?

Correct -  but  rolling numbers don't help with capturing historic information. Like why do my sales (or type of goods) do good in October and not July! (or some other comparison)

Probably - I always wrote code so I could go on vacation - not FIX something else! (lol)

I actually like that they are showing only the 30 day count because I can get a better gauge  on how many people have really look at this stuff within a shorter time frame. Those views before so inflated to not really show what is going on in the present time. I was SHOCKED when I saw the low views here this past month for our stuff. Nobody home on here lately and the inflation and goin back to the stores is really showing here. God help us all.
