More info is needed.

Right like they need to know what my Vinyl LP is made from, really.

I just googled, "What are vinyl albums made of?", and got this answer. Bet it'll blow eBay's mind... is PVC on the list? LOL
Vinyl records are made with polyvinyl chloride, commonly known as PVC.

These "required item specifics" are really ridiculous. On a record, they need the fact that it is a "record" and the title of the album included, or the listings in question will be deleted by July 12th.
If the album title and artist are in the item title already, can't an eBay "bot" figure this out, and then automatically include it in the item specifics? And if a record is listed in the "Records" category, isn't this just unnecessary, redundant information??
If bots can pull down listings (or in some cases, not even allow certain items to be listed in the first place), why couldn't they be used for this? Or does eBay not care if their sellers will now have to be engaged with hours and hours of BUSY WORK??
Time as an eBay seller should be spent adding new items to the marketplace, not having to spend time with matters that should be handled by eBay in the first place............

Exactly right. After paying all the fees and taxes it's hard to figure that they can't get volume is the key for a guy selling $10.00 records. It is already hard enough to manage the USPS, returns, positive feedback etc with out this new **bleep** people want to know, A how much is it? B will it sound good. and C when will I get it? I just do not understand how such a rich co. can be so stupid.

item specifics is the way eBay is doing away with sub categories in some sections. A mistake they will be feeling in the bottom line before long.

Have they done away with the "duration" choices? Can a 7" single still be distinguishable from a 7" ep as it could previously? Or a 12" LP vs. a 12" single? Maybe I'm not seeing correctly. I'd think this would be a no-brainer. Thanks.

I posted the same thing days ago: Asking for an answer from the ebay reps that monitor this page.... NOTHING BUT CRICKETS.
Why do I need to add "Record" in the FORMAT Section when I'm listing in the Record Selling category? This, as you stated should be an easy fix on ebay's end.
Also, how do I add and "Album Name" when 7" 45s don't have "Album Names".. yet this is required or item will be deleted. Meanwhile the song names are in my Listing Title and description.
No way in heck am I fixing over 1,200 listing for this stupidity!

Ebay decided long ago that instead of paying for industry standard databases of product information they would simply make their sellers slaves and force them to enter a bunch of irrelevant information.

Item specifics are not just ridiculous in the record category.
I had to refill out some item specifics in the furniture department.
In addition to height, width & depth they actually had to nerve to ask for the sofas weight!
How can I weight a sofa?
No good asking demanding us answer 100% irrelevant questions...

I am not an expert on how eBay thinks but here's what I assume.
"ridiculous item specifics"
they need the fact that it is a "record"
Yes, because there are enough idiot sellers out there who don't know the difference between a record, cd, cassette tape, or dvd.
And if a record is listed in the "Records" category, isn't this just unnecessary, redundant information??
No it isn't, please refer to my enough sellers are idiots claim. It only takes a few idiots to ruin it for the rest of us.
If the album title and artist are in the item title already, can't an eBay "bot" figure this out, and then automatically include it in the item specifics?
First of all eBay you are building a library of record titles (much like the Amazon system), you can't expect a bot or IE to learn something or know anything, it has to be pre-programmed. You are programming the data right now. After you list an item with Title: "Elivis Presly's Greatest Ever" Artist: Elvis Presely, the next person who comes along may get an auto suggestion to fill in the title. Not sure when or if eBay is planning that.
If bots can pull down listings (or in some cases, not even allow certain items to be listed in the first place), why couldn't they be used for this?
They absolutely could be programed to do this, but because of the insane amount of variables in the programming it would easily end up costing them a dollar per listing for the next 5 years, which would be paid by the sellers. Computer programing isn't like waving a magic wand. I can program a bot to look for the word *bleep* in any listing and instruct it to pull down all listings with that word. A high school computer student could write that code. To teach AI to go through all the possible variable sentences and tiles and be able to determine when the word like "Excelent" is the title of a record and not a description would be mind blowing.
Or does eBay not care if their sellers will now have to be engaged with hours and hours of BUSY WORK??
I don't know where people ever got this idea in there head that eBay cares about them?

TO ADD.....
Just started including the album titles and whether it the item is a CD or record to all my music listings.
Funny thing is when they were listed at first, these same specifics stated "Required Soon", and I included this information. Decided to be proactive and get a step ahead (NOT TO MENTION THAT IT DOES MAKE SENSE FOR Google SEO PURPOSES).
The issue is not WHY this information is necessary, but the fact that it is readily available to migrate into the same Item Specific attribute boxes, and eBay could not create a method to do so.
ALSO, sadly, the title and format specific values I made sure to include have disappeared. Now I get to spend hours placing these back onto my listings. AGAIN.

Once again the question is very simple. Why not make this easier for a seller who needs to list multiple listings on a daily basis instead of harder?
