WHY ARE NON PAYING BIDDERS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE BIDDING ON ITEMS?

JUST Had another guy not pay for an item he won , and he is not a newbie at this stuff . if you look at his feedback its 100%.... because eBay wont let you leave bad feedback for crappy buyers that don't pay .

Delve a bit deeper into his "100% great feedback score" and any seller can see he is a NON PAYER by the comments left. .

You are stuck giving these bad actors good feedback if you want to comment on the bad behavior .

SELLERS any thoughts ?

WHY ARE NON PAYING BIDDERS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE BIDDING ON ITEMS?

Hi @canamrider79

What can and cannot be done:

-Sellers can wait 4 days and then on day 5 Cancel using the reason Buyer hasn't paid.  Buyer gets a strike, if they get 2 in 12 months they can't bid or buy much on eBay because 2 is the lowest default Seller setting for automatically blocking Buyers

-Add them to your Blocked list: Buyer management | eBay

-During an auction click on the bid number, all bidders will be shown, you can review the Feedback history for signs of non-payment OR click the Received as Buyer tab then look over on the right to see how many Bid retractions they have in the last 12 months

-You can cancel ANY bids from ANY Buyer that you want: Cancel buyer's bids | eBay

-If you suspect a "possible" non-payer you can always use the Sell Similar function on the item, create a complete new listing and put it up on Auction.  If the Buyer pays you can End that duplicate Auction, if they don't and you cancel on day 5 then don't Relist it, just let the duplicate you created run its course.  If the first one is paid for and the duplicate has bids you can cancel those bids then End the duplicate.  I have done this on a number of occasions but have NEVER had to cancel any bids on the duplicate listing.  This approach cuts down on the lost time processing the Unpaid item.

-Sellers cannot leave a Positive Feedback with a negative comment.

-Unpaid items will remain on your Leave Feedback list for 90 days.  This should NOT happen because a Cancelled Unpaid item is a completed transaction but eBay attaches a 90 "attribute" to the Ended auction which dumps it on the Leave FB list until the 90 attribute timer times out.  This was brought to eBay's attention a long time ago but eBay has NOT corrected their programming error.  On a cancelled Unpaid item Buyers cannot leave FB but Sellers can for 90 days ... I know because I have tested this.

Yes, even terrible, nonpaying bidders have lovely 100% feedback.

But you can avoid most of them by setting up the option to block bidders ho have received 2 or more nonpayment cancellations in the past 12 months:

Turn on the option to require payment details be submitted by buyers prior to them being able to place a bid.

You can set your account to block bidders with two or more unpaid strikes.

Set your listings to require payment right away.

The fact that you cannot leave negative feedback for buyers should tell you everything you need to know about who is favored here on eBay. Hint: It's not sellers.

Why would you violate policy just to make you feel better?

The buyer still has 100%.

Have a great day.

I can't determine if you've already cancelled the sale as 'Unpaid', (^^^ "turned him in" confuses me). Know that sending an invoice resets the buyer's payment window. If you haven't officially cancelled the sale yet, wait 96 hours and one second (after the last invoice) to cancel, citing 'Buyer hasn't paid'. Good luck.

'sent 2 invoices'....no need to do that...gives buyer longer to pay and longer for you not able to cancel.

any seller can see he is a NON PAYER by the comments left. .

Most sellers never see feedback, because we are using Fixed Price.

We can add Immediate Payment Required to FP listings.

A seller who is leaving negative comments is unaware that they could have opened an Unpaid Item Dispute , given the deadbeat a Strike, and had any fees refunded.

A seller can also set their Seller Preferences/Buyer Requirements to automatically Block any bidder who has two or more Strikes.

When you open an Unpaid Item Dispute, which can be done four days after the last invoice, it closes in seconds and you are refunded.

If that has not happened, you did not open an Unpaid Item Dispute.

WHY ARE NON PAYING BIDDERS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE BIDDING ON ITEMS?

eBay offers sellers an option that's much better than leaving bad FB.  It's called the "cancellation".

Any time a buyer does not pay for his purchase, that seller can/should/must cancel that order, citing "buyer did not pay" as the reason.

Any seller can refuse to sell to any buyer who has had 2 such cases.  If/when any seller allows  a buyer  to get away with such an action, he's contributing to the problem.

If you are seeing a buyer whose FB received comments include remarks about the buyer not having paid,

you are seeing (a) a seller who did not do the right thing and/or (b) a buyer who allowed him to get away with it.

PS:  So you were completely unaware that, by leaving that + FB with - remarks, you opened yourself up to a defect? Did you not cancel, citing "buyer did not pay" as your reason?
