Im new to EBAY. When does a Seller ship after a sale? It would make sense I wait til payment, but not sure how this works.

Always wait till you are paid before shipping. Ebay website will show you when it is time to ship. Click on orders awaiting shipment. Adjust your handling time to what you want it to be. Usually 1 to 5 business days. Can be up to 30. Click all listings edit all. You will go to the bulk editor then adjust handling time. Lets say you pick 3 day handling time. Then when ebay is showing ship some items within 24 hours that means you need to go to the post office on that day with all of your packages. What you don't want to do is wait till the last day of your handling time and then just go drop the packages in some street corner drop box. Because you are supposed to actually have the packages scanned by a postal employee within your handling time. So what I do is I wait till it says ship within 24 hours then I go put them in the drop box in the morning. But I do it inside the post office. Not outside anywhere. Much faster to get scanned.

I ship as soon as the eBay Seller Hub says it is "Awaiting shipment".

eBay notifies you when payment has been received and it's time to ship. You can buy the Shipping label through eBay and fund it with the buyer's payment, even before the buyer's funds have been transferred to your account. The setting for that will be in the lower left corner of the Shipping label form.

I assume that we're talking about some item that you have not listed yet. Your mountain of Playboy magazines is listed as Local Pickup Only, which is definitely the best way to unload those. Shipping them would be an expensive nightmare that no buyer would want to pay for. (They do not qualify for Media Mail rates.)
