Here is my question, what is the exact date that GTC into effect this month? As a result of selling for 20 yrs I most likely will have to be done with Ebay, as with out Ebay I won't have any extra money to buy any thing on Ebay which in turn hurts other sellers as I can't buy from them. As I am a small seller on Ebay. Is there a end run of any kind to get around the GTC??.
... I think ebay is trying to drive out the small sellers. It is interesting that Ebay has nothing to sell at all, unlike the big "A" with out us they have nothing, and with out them we have nothing. It should be a marriage made in heaven between the two. As it used to be before 2008 when many changes started. Not marriage made in H-LL that is has turned out to be. Thanks in advance for any input.

This change doe NOT affect auctions. You have no need to end them early at all. They are NOT affected.

So it sounds like what you are saying is that it only takes a few minutes to rotate your stock and that isn't a huge time burden anyway, so the change to GTC is a non-issue for you?
^^^WRONG! I need to be able to choose what renews and what doesn't. I also sell at local antique shows and take my eBay items that aren't active. What a nightmare if the items are active all the time! I need the tools I was given by eBay and don't like when a tool is taken away.
It may not work well for you, but that doesn't make it wrong for No_zero.
You absolutely have a issue and a solution needs to be found so that you can make the system work the best it can for you. The change is coming, so thinking outside the box of what you normally do may be in order. I respect completely that is is a huge issue for you and that this makes things much harder on you as will will for other sellers too. I hope you will find a way to rotate your stock in a way that causes you the least amount of work while complying with the ever changing needs of Ebay.

Is there a "formula" to figure out the best start date to insure no double-listing fee in a month? I am a small seller (use the 50 free listing per month), & obviously do not have a store. If I start my listings on the 5th of the month, does that buy me extra years of no double listing in one month. There are 7 months with 31 days, less the 2 days for Feb. = 5 days (months) that could result in listing fees. Soooo, does this make sense?? Everyone keeps talking about listing the middle of the month to gain 2 years before there would be a double listing in one month. Thank you for your input, I'm sure I am over thinking this!! 🙂

Here's the calculator. Just set up the first column to figure out April 5 for you.

Just do NOT post any today or tomorrow. After that you should be fine. Ebay has said that they will have a resolution to this problem released in May. We don't know what that means, but they said they would.
Please know that GTCs have been around a very long time. Those of us that have used them for years have never found this to be a big issue. Most don't post their listings all in one day, but staggered throughout the month as time allows for us to create a new listing. So when there was a double posting month, it was a minimal impact. Most went by unnoticed.
I know for casual and small sellers this would not be true. It is a big issue and I completely understand and respect that. A fix is coming. So relax and watch your emails for the announcement of the fix and/or the threads.
Good luck with your sales and the transition.

This is something that is said almost every single time Ebay releases a Seller Update. Years and years and years of sellers making the same or similar statement, yet small sellers are still here.
While I completely understand that this GTC mandate is extremely hard for some and impossible for others, it isn't because Ebay is trying to get rid of small sellers.
If Ebay didn't want small sellers, well simply there would be no small sellers. They would just gate the community and not allow small sellers to sell here. They don't have to phase them out or anything like that. If Ebay didn't want us, we would just be gone.
But again, I do understand that this update is particularly hard on casual and small sellers. I would hope Ebay would ease up on this policy, but only time will tell.

The date is very close, so close that it may be within 30 days.
