When I created a volume pricing to apply discount to all items in the same category. I checked the box "Apply discount to single item only", but when the promotion runs, the discount is applied to the lot items as well (i.e. items that are sold in lot of 2 or more). Why doesn't it exclude the lot items?

I could be wrong but that IS a single item. If a person buys more than one (which you offer), they get the discount.

If a lot item is treated as a single item, then what's the difference when I check or uncheck the option "Apply discount to single item only"?

I never really understood the 'sell as a lot' option on the listing form but would checking that off make a difference in your situation?

I unchecked "Apply discount to single item only" but there's no difference. I don't know what the option is for.

When you list an item weather it is a "lot", or just one item it is still a SINGLE listings. Read the description of A, B, and C. That is the difference. Why would you not give a discount just because it is a lot as long as you are offering more than one? Also I believe your listing is in violation because each "lot" has to be identical phones.

So what exactly does the "Apply discount to single item only" do? Whether I check or uncheck this option, I don't see any difference.

Where in eBay policy that states that a "lot" must have identical items? I have been on eBay for more than 20 years and I have seen millions of "lot" of mixed items. Many of them are not even related items. Please do your homework.

I think I got it. The "Apply discount to single item only" means the discount only applies when a buyer purchases the same items with quantity greater than 1. If a buyer purchases different items with quantity of 1 each, there is no discount, even though the total quantity is greater than 1. So the listings do not show any difference, only when buyers put items in cart they will see the difference. If that is the case I think eBay should rephrase the option to avoid confusion.

That would be a scam and totally misleading. If I purchase an item (weather 180 items in a single lot, or just a single item), you give me a choice to put the number of items I want into the box before hitting the BIN. You are misleading your customers and I advise you to stop doing that.

When ebay refers to a 'single item' they are referring to a 'single listing'... a single 'item number- the 12 digit number is a single item.
So, even if you sell a lot of 100 thingys in a listing; that is ONE item (or single). That 'discount' cannot differentiate what is in a "listing".

Exactly.
