I ahead a buyer try to offer me an amount for an item that had not bid. He was low balling me and i told him no I could get it for more. I recently sold another similar item for way more then he was offering and I wanted to show him so I screen shot it and sent it to him. He responds that I just violated ebay policy.1. How did I violate a policy? 2. Didn't he violate one by trying to get me to sell on the side? He just says stay tuned. Need answers. Thanks

Stop the conversation and immediately block him.

Did the screenshot include the other buyers name?
And 'similar' isn't the same as 'same'.
But I agree with em - block and ignore.

If any of the buyer's personal info was in the screen shot, then yes, you violated policy.
Stop communicating with this person.

You didn't need to send him a screenshot of the sold price. You don't owe him any explanation or justification. Although you did it to earnestly show him the price it sells for, it comes across as unprofessional and more than a bit arrogant. Yeah, true, he had his best interest in mind and not yours, but keep it professional.
When a buyer makes you an offer you're not interested in, all you need to do is say "No thanks. My price is firm." or "It is our policy to not end auctions early in fairness to all interested parties" or something like that
At this point, I'd be tempted to block him because I created acrimony. ![]()

Always be sensitive and never share anything that has bidder's info on it.
You don't need to justify anything to anyone. You are not even required to respond if you don't care to. If you do, a simple, sorry, I must decline, but thank you for your interest, is sufficient. You can leave off the thank you if you are so inclined, or feel that is not warranted.
I suggest blocking as this could get ugly. Good luck.

One, I agree with those who say you violated policy if the screenshot revealed personal information about a buyer. Two, I agree that you should block the person. Three, the reason I'd block him is because he's being a jerk for the simple fact you didn't do what he wanted and decided to go crying to mommy (Ebay, in this case), because you hurt his wittle feelings.

Why are you communicating with someone who wants to buy it "on the side"?
Was that his idea or yours?
Was the screenshot showing another deal you did off ebay?
