Views - of course......

Perhaps you all think this is normal these days - I don't!

I have a listing for a 100 year old scrap book containing many vintage matchbox labels.....OK that's of no interest to 98% of  buyers. When I listed it though back in January...it pulled more views than any of the other (then) 41 listings I had. The number of views increased regularly - so here's my problem. On April 14 2025 it had recorded 98 views - pathetic, compared to what you would have seen in 2002 - but in today's environment of six views in eight weeks being at the upper end of "lucky"- not too bad! I thought it weird then that on April 30th it was showing 56 views (obviously NOT POSSIBLE if sixteen days earlier it had already recorded 98 views!  There were also multiple "watchers."  I checked the listing ten minutes ago - it shows NO views and NO watchers. Anyone care to explain (rationally) just how this can be and what the hell is going on here?

@retromedia2Did you check the views hyperlink? Next to the views for the last 30 days, you'll see it. It will bring up the following information (I'm illustrating this with one of my own listings).

If you click on the upper right hand corner "past 30 days" it will bring up view increments all the way back to 2 years. This might explain the anomaly.

The views you are seeing are a rolling 30-day count.  Absolutely, views can go down as high view counts fall off over time.  You can click the view link in the listing to show view counts going back as far back as two years.

Hi @retromedia2 Below is a link to eBay’s Help pages on the discussion topic that might be of interest.

Overall, you cannot really trust the view count.  I posted an item only 3 days ago.  The view count was up to 4.  Now it is 2.  The rolling view count does not factor in with that short of time so, it should be the same # or higher.

Also, kiss 2002 goodbye. That's 23 years ago.
