I have been a loyal eBay user for well over 30 years. I am a seller and a buyer. Recent changes to Ebay demanding access to my bank account and the additional tax burdens have caused me to look elsewhere for my purchases and sales. I have noticed that prices on eBay items have increased recently and not just for inflation reasons. I am sure that seller is attempting to pass on added costs to their customers. Hear this eBay, we do have options.

If you cannot provide banking details, there is no way to get paid. Sorry you have to stop buying and selling on the internet. Have fun shopping at B&M stores instead.

^^^ That's longer than eBay has even been around. Hate to see you go...

What additional tax burdens?

Either "30 years" is a typo, or you are some sort of time traveller.
eBay has finally instituted the kind of payment system that other on-line marketplaces (Amazon, Etsy, et al) have used since their inceptions. eBay is just late to the party.
As for a bank account, personal and business funds should never be commingled, and you can open an account to use for your eBay business in about 10 minutes on-line.
There are no "additonal tax burdens." You were always supposed to report your income from eBay and pay any taxes due on it. The change is that the federal government lowered the dollar point at which eBay is required to issue a 1099 to a seller.
Anyhow, toodle-oo and happy trails to wherever they lead you.

Since ALL the larger venues have been "regulated" by the government, you will need to start looking at the smaller and lesser-known venues to skirt government mandates. To that end, if you can use PayPal as your underlying cashier, they have been set up long ago to get into your bank account and were required to obtain your social security number about 4 years ago to maintain compliance with federal banking laws. They would be the ones to issue your 1099-K to report receipts that total more than $600.
Or, you may want to return to your local community where you can inspect the goods and pay with cash.
If the "additional tax burden" is troublesome, you might look at this page and participate in "home rule":

That is how selling works for any business😊
Costs must be passed on to the buyer for a seller to remain profitable.

You mean Wally World is not just there for our convenience and selling us items at their cost, providing goods and services with no aim for profits? Who knew? 😉

Paypal also demanded your banking and credit card details, both to transfer payments and to pay out for purchases, eBay fees, and refunds.
As did BillPoint if you used that when eBay introduced that at the turn of the millennium.

Well, yeah.
That's how commerce works. The seller covers her costs by passing them on to the consumer and adding a profit so she will still be welcome at the grocery store.

Ebay started business in September of 1995...not quite 30 years. Best of luck where ever you continue to shop.
