Verizon CDMA network turned off December 31st 2022

Just a quick heads up for anyone buying or selling a Verizon handset in the next few months : Verizon CDMA network turned off December 31st 2022 and there are an estimated 100,000 CDMA handsets that instantly became redundant on New Years Day 2023...

Buyers

be very careful to check the IMEI on an online IMEI check service (I use https://imei24.com/). There are a number of vendors who are omitting the network in their description, or are dishonestly listing them as GSM ready. If you buy a CDMA handset you will have to go through an unnecessary  refund process with the vendor and EBAY, and may have to post the handset back at your own cost.

Sellers

Be honest!. If you have a swag of Verizon CDMA handsets you probably should be junking them and not trying to sell them on EBAY. If you feel compelled to sell them make sure you CLEARLY label them as CDMA and CLEARLY label them as "demonstrators" or "faulty, for parts only" and make crystal clear to buyers that they CANT be connected to any US carrier.

If everyone follows these guidelines, it will make the buying and selling process a lot simpler and clearer,  save EBAY from having to issue hundreds of refunds and leaving vendors out of pocket for packaing an postage.
