Does cassini use the fields we fill in for it's search? For example: I am selling an auto part that fits a make and model for 5 different years. Am I better off making 5 different listings with the 5 different years or just making one variation listing with the 5 different years separately selectable in the drop down menu? Does cassini look in those menus?

Anything about Cassini is speculation. The only proven fact is it likes when you keep feeding the machine. I would do each listing separately. Plus less likely to get confused customers ordering the wrong item.

If you have one part that fits five different model years, you are better off making one listing -- otherwise if you make multiple listings, you may run into a situation where multiple listings sell at the same time, leaving you unable to fulfill some orders.
If you include the proper model and year information in your item specifics, users searching for that part should be able to find your listing.
