I am trying to set up one of the new Volume Pricing Promotions, read the info, watched the video and still need help!
It states you can add "eBay Category ID", but what does that mean? There used to be category numbers but can't seem to find those anymore, do you just use the category name?
I know you can do it on each individual listing, but that is a lot of extra work, would like to just use one category to save time. Anyone here who has done that and knows for sure how it works? Thanks!

No, it wouldn't. As good luck said, right now it ONLY works for listings where you have a MQ available.
The OP could achieve the same by using the Managed Promotions to offer % off when you buy so many or a $ amount.
With all due respect, that was not what I suggested so I am sorry but there is misundestanding as the question did not indicate using the volume discount due to the fact that it was already known that that would not work~I'm sorry that was not clear for some reason. The fact that it ONLY works for listings with quantity was understood and never suggested in my post to @goodluckselling. I suggested the OP running her own promotion by stating such in her description, such as buy ANY four items, get free shipping, or buy ANY x amount of items, and get X percentage off, `or by another method that @goodluckselling might suggest~such as the Managed Promotions that you do suggest.

This is the correct answer to the OP problem. I think the OP mentioned they want to do whole categories so setting this up would be very easy to choose everything in a specific category versus inputting individual item numbers to be included.
Good Luck Selling!

Thank you, @goodluckselling I didn't think of Managed Promotions at that time, but I felt confident you would have a great answer, which is what the OP needed. I don't presume to have all the answers, and I know when to defer to those with the best knowledge, such as you. Thank you for all you do to help!

The simpest thing the OP could do if they are wanting to increase sales which I'm sure thats what they are wanting to do is round up or down their prices to the nearest dollar. Things ending in 99 cents look more expensive to the minds eye than the even dollar amount does. Thats a free sellers tip that deals with the sublimal side of selling...

It didn't work for me, so I wouldn't bother with volume pricing.

Charm pricing (ending in 99 cents) often conveys a lesser price and a deal than a whole number, but arguments can be made for both sides.

I couldn't figure it out either. I did not want to cut/paste individual item numbers, and all of my items are in the same category, but different sub-categories.
I ended up selecting All of my listings. When I go to a listing that only has 1 available, ebay displays the SAVE UP TO 10% WHEN YOU BUY MORE. I am sure that must confuse buyers. No one has sent any questions.
Here's a listing if you want to see that: https://www.ebay.com/itm/382627001054
So far, no one has purchased multiples under this promo, but my saves have increased!

That reminds me of a story about a guy that was selling a car and placed an ad.
The ad ran at whatever price for several weeks, let's say, $2,500.00. Dropped the price to $2,499.99, BAM, sold just like that!

Adding it to the description is a very messy way to go about it, especially since we may no longer have the ability to offer partial refunds once Managed Payments goes into effect site-wide and requesting total through the cart is not always available due to the many restrictions. Not only that but it makes things more difficult for the buyer and seller. The description is not a place for that kind of thing.
Accomplishing the kind of discount the OP wants to apply should be done using Order Discount promotions, but not Volume Discount promotions as has already been advised by others.

I thought you were one of a kind seller per your post a day earlier.
