I have not heard that. However, I would avoid using the word "Velcro" as that company is known to be very aggressive in their protection of their intellectual property rights. Even if the item listed has an authentic "Velcro" I would use the term "hook and loop fastener" instead.

Over 258,000 + listings when you type in the word "velour" so I doubt it.

Velour is a type of fabric and the word is not trademarked.
I'm sure, as dennis said, someone meant "velcro". A plague of locusts will descend upon you if you use that word in describing a product that does not have authentic Velcro.

I have heard that, but I don't know if it is true.
I got in trouble for using the word jacuzzi in a listing once. It was for a doll pattern. Clearly a pattern for a doll and yet Jacuzzi corp came after me with a vengence over it. It was CRAZY stuff.

Vero has to catch up to them IF it is true that "velour" is a no no.
Years ago I got in trouble for having the word "Barbie" in my title for a series of patterns I sell for that type of doll. There are 100's of similar patterns listings on Ebay with Barbie in the title and have been for years. Some of the sellers I'm familiar with and I asked them when this happened to me. Years later and they are still listing with Barbie in the title.
It just all depends on who, when and if Vero decides to take issue with it. That is all I can come up with.

I have plenty of "velour" items listed which I list as such and never had any problems. I do not believe defining this type of fabric is prohibited for some reason. I am confident it's what the others have said: you are thinking of the word "velcro".

Good catch. That is what I confused it with. Good old velcro.
