Unsold Items: Items not selling

None of my items hasn't been sold in weeks and I'm getting desperate. I tried lowering prices. I recieve offers but they turn me down at the last minute. I don't understand why no one isn't buying. I had some successful sales, but it's really slow right now. What is going on? Are my prices too high? I need some advice. Thanks.

Your feedback percentage is probably hurting you a bit; some sellers won't purchase from a seller with 96.7% feedback. In your defense, as a low-voume seller it only takes 1 neg to affect your percentage in a big way. But I think that the neutral  also would concern me as a prospective buyer (because it mentions both odor & a hole). It appears that English may be your 2nd language (from your post), and I"m guessing that may have also complicated issues for you in correct wording of type of purse.

I would strongly suggest listing some cheaper priced items (possibly in multiple categories) to try to get some sales that way, and also to help get your feedback percentage up. And if you are going to sell watches & purses in particular, I would make sure details are exact (cross-body versus back-pack) and definitely odors & any wear at all (even color wear, or slight balling) is clearly explained. Wishing you the best of Luck OP.

Oops..that should read some 'buyers' won't purchase (1st sentence) not 'sellers' ;).

Looks like you sell quality goods, but you're making some serious mistakes it seems.

For starters, if you want a larger volume of sales, then logically you would need a larger inventory of goods to sell. You only have 59 items listed for sale, which doesn't give you much leverage with buyers; simply for the fact you have less traffic to your current listings, and ultimately less competition to follow.

The bigger and more successful sellers on ebay often offer hundreds if not thousands of products for sale. They do this for good reason too. Everytime you list another item for sale, you increase your odds of making more sales. Each new listing goes out into categories you placed them in, and each listing also offer more textual content for ebay and search engines like Google to match as buyer results.

This is the whole reason I'm getting ready to list hundreds of games for sale. If I only had one or two, those listings would be drowned out in a second flat. But with hundreds, I can easily get more traffic and increase my potential of making the next sale.

The other issue at hand is the time of year. Retail sales typically plummet this time of year. The Holidays are over and most people are broke and not looking to spend.

And yet, another issue at hand are economical conditions. Contrary to the media and government's claims that the economy is doing wonderful, it depends on who you ask. For instance, here where I live in Missouri, roughly half our population lives at or below the poverty line. That doesn't exactly equate to a good economy.

So the economy is good for some, those who it actually benefits, but half of U.S population is still dirt poor. You can't buy things if you have no money.

Your titles need some work.

The most important keywords should be at the beginning.

New Wittnauer Gold Tone. Black Leather Band 30.5mm Watch

Doesn't even mention the Pegasus on the Face?

Better would be

Wittnauer Pegasus Watch Gold Toned 30.5mm Black Leather Band

Also ... your pictures are very grainy ... when blown up, they lose all detail 😞 I can't read the maker or see the face details on most of the watches.

It seems that you may be cropping a lot out of the original pictures after you take them?

Take the picture closer to the item and crop less. Use zoom.

If not, take higher-resolution pictures so that buyers can zoom in on details.

...

One last thing "No Returns or refunds accepted" is not valid.

Your No Returns policy means that you can decline a Buyers Remorse return ... but all items on eBay are covered by the MBG for Items Not as Described. You cannot refuse INAD returns. All sellers are required to pay for return shipping on INAD items, or just refund without return.

You have a cartoon watch that has a great tin box......need to show that with the watch in the lst (gallery) picture....  Anything "extra" should be in that picture...it will make your items stand out from the crowd in search results.......  Are the black boxes included with watches?  If so, say so, in title if you have the room, in description if not.  And if you have the room...... add a short what I call a bait word in the title .......Classic, Fun, Elegant, Classy  that appeals to what a person "thinks" he/she will look like with the item.    You use Rare for a $17 item.......the price doesn't reflect any "rareness" so that kind usage  is pretty useless..  Those words don't help in search but may attract people to open the listing and actually look at it.    I do agree, need better pictures.......

Need to correct this title, can't be both new and preowned, unless you can show the original packaging.

I don't think the OP's feedback would prevent anyone from making a sale. It's only one negative, and the only reason their feedback percentage is only 96.7% is because they have relatively few feedbacks, so even one bad FB will bring down their percentage significantly. The person who dished it out did it just because the OP called the crossover a backpack. To me, it's a pretty silly reason for bad feedback, considering the buyer surely knew it was a crossover before they bought it just by looking at the photos.

I agree with you that the OP should be getting the details listed more correctly in the future. That's important and will reduce the risk of returns or future bad feedback significantly. The OP should also follow the suggestions of the other posters who chimed in, too.

The first thing I would do is eliminate the "No returns or refunds accepted" line in their descriptions. That line alone will cause a good percentage of potential buyers to run in the other direction.

The OP needs to spend more time on describing their item. One very short sentence isn't always enough.

If the OP's items don't start moving after listening to the suggestions of the people on this forum, then they should think about finding something else that actually sells for the price they need to get, rather than trying to sell something that nobody wants at the price they are offering.

If none of that works, and if the OP really needs to make some sales happen, then maybe the time has come for them to consider doing some auctions with low starting prices and no reserves. Doing that on a few items will at least tell them what the market value for their items really is.  Once they get a better feel for the value of their items, and once they tweak their listings as suggested by you and the other posters, they should be fine, but yes, they need to put more time and effort into their listings.

A lot of your photos are poor quality and dark.

You need to take more than one up close detailed photo of the item.

OP is selling in very saturated catagories Watches and Purses and I would guess that better pictures will not really help.   I doubt many folks are clicking beyond title to see inside.  Lowering prices IMO will not help.  I sell with No Returns but I sell paper media stuff rarely anything that requires power or moving parts.   OP has been on Ebay since 05 so not really newbie I think you need to source some items in less crowded catagories.

You can get a camera that will outshoot most phone cameras for under $50.  You may want to consider it.

The free listings offered whle some sellers flood the item lists, especially since they are now allowed to have several seller names and post the same items over and over, page after page of the same items,  while pushing anybody else to the second and third pages.

I miss the old days of Ebay in the 90's-early 2000's when Ebay actually cared.

I agree with you 100% about the red neg, I would not be dissuaded from buying from this seller over that comment by the buyer. The 1st thing that struck me was why in the Hel' would that person buy the bag if they KNEW it was not a backpack? It's an obvious mistake on the sellers behalf mixing the 2 up. Lousy thing to do by that buyer, sounds like they just tried sticking it to her out of spite. I myself hardly ever sell handbags but get confused sometimes with all the proper names and styles. That buyer is now on my blocked list!
