100% rating. Over 90 days consistent selling totaling just under $8000. I sell two items each of which sold for $1200. As always funds held pending delivery. One package delivers and that changes to funds on hold for 30 days. Two hours being transferred from one department to the other all to find out it’s eBay’s new not so new not spelled out anywhere policy. Tell me in what marketplace does that make sense: buyer gets the items, eBay gets their fees, and I get nothing for a month. On top of already ridiculous fees all this does is create an even greater opportunity for a new marketplace to establish itself. 3 representatives all started by saying “well you have to be eBay selling for 90 days, having excellent ratings…oh yes you do! Hmmm”. About to remove all of my listings. eBay took over $120 in fees from both sales and on top of that wants me to wait a month to get paid? You go above and beyond making sure your buyers items are well packaged. I pay for USPS priority shipping. This is beyond absurd. I can understand if a seller has negative ratings and is flagged but to have a 100% rating and have funds held under a policy not clearly written out anywhere makes this anything but a free market platform. And I’ve read the policy thoroughly before. Two of the reps I spoke with literally stated it’s not written out in any of the fine print and is “new”. Right.

It's probably a "transaction hold." Here's at least one place where it's clearly written out.

Transaction holds

Transaction holds

Transaction holds are when we place a hold on funds related to a particular buyer transaction. The funds on hold may be used to refund the buyer for the same transaction.

While proceeds from your sales typically become available within 2 days of confirming the buyer’s payment, we may place a transaction hold on funds while we ensure a successful transaction. To reduce the likelihood of a transaction hold, we recommend shipping an item the same day your buyer pays for it and following good shipping practices, such as adding tracking information to your order.

Tip

If we place a hold on your funds, it will usually be resolved within 30 days, but in rare circumstances it may take longer. For most orders, adding tracking information can help you receive your funds faster. eBay does not earn interest on held funds.

Additionally, we may place a transaction hold on funds depending on your seller status, changes to your account status, or other factors we use to help ensure a safe marketplace in all categories, regardless of whether the transaction is covered by our eBay Money Back Guarantee or not:

  • New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes it may be longer
  • Previously restricted or suspended sellers will experience transaction holds for the 30 days after the restriction or suspension is lifted, while we confirm that the items have been successfully delivered
  • High priced items or unusual selling patterns may lead to transaction holds for up to 30 days to help us ensure that buyers don't have any issues with the order

Ebay prefers that any refunds come out of your pocket, not theirs.Read over the MBG, and Paypals and cc's 180 day buyer protection.

Here's where it's clearly written out in eBay's User Agreement:

User Agreement

11. Holds and Restricted Funds

To protect eBay from risk of liability for your actions as a seller, eBay Payments Entities may restrict access to your funds as described in the Payments Terms of Use.

And here's where it's clearly written out in eBay's Payments Terms of Use:

Payments Terms of Use

Holds

We reserve the right to manage the risks associated with providing you the Payment Services, by placing restrictions on your access to your funds when deemed necessary, as described in further detail below.

You agree that we may place holds on your funds or instruct a payment service provider to hold your funds, prior to disbursement. For the avoidance of doubt, if you receive funds to either a stored value account issued to you under eBay’s Balance Terms and Conditions or to a payment account, a hold may also be placed on such funds. If a hold is placed on your funds, the amount and status of the hold will be displayed under the Payments tab in the Seller Hub/My eBay. We will notify you through the eBay Message Center and/or by email and, depending on the reason, may request additional information from you to help resolve the issue. A hold may be placed if we have reason to believe there is an increased risk associated with the provision of our Payment Services or with a certain Managed Payments transaction; for example, if we cannot verify your identity or if your buyer files a dispute. Please see our holds help page for more detail on the hold types and examples. We take into consideration relevant factors when assessing the risks, including selling history, seller performance, returns and cancellations, chargebacks, riskiness of the listing category, transaction value, the ability to make direct debits from your Linked Financial Account, and the filing of eBay Buyer Protection Program claims. We also may cancel or freeze the settlement of your proceeds as necessary to comply with our legal obligations in connection with fraud prevention, risk management, or regulatory compliance. Any hold placed on your funds will be lifted when the issue is resolved.

Please don’t listen to those reps. They are not ebay employees. They are contracted out reps that will tell you anything just to get you off the phone.

You only have 196 feedbacks. Ebay is doing holds on folks with several thousands.  It's to make sure that the buyer is totally happy.  Sometimes, accounts get taken over by someone that is not so honest. Ebay just wants to keep ebay safe.  This NOT the place to sell a pricey item if you need the funds fast to pay a bill.  Blame the scammers for that.  You will have to wait.

Only 11 of those are as a seller--and all within the last six months.

You have been doing great business but you haven't been around for a long time...August 2022.  Selling something high in price might get a 30+ hold. It's a learning experience for all of us. I would not leave eBay since you are selling. Just remember it takes a while to get situated. Once it gets going you'll be doing fine. Its a small hiccup that we all been through. And because of what you are selling I would not leave this platform.  You leave and these buyers who want to buy something again from you might not find you. The key here is repeat buyers.

Obviously it is clearly stated in the policies. Not unofficial, and def. not new.

Just my Two Cents...
Thank you for being here!
