Unjustly given a permanent restriction!

I opened my app today to check on my listing and it had moved to unsold. It had only been up for like 4 days. That was odd.

Then later on I couldn't relist the item.

I had been restricted from selling. 

 

I eventually found the message and got in my email stating I had been permanently restricted from selling!!! What???

I've been contacting agents but each one just gives a generic transcript of final decisions and rudely disconnects the chat. I went through 5 or 6 agents before the chat disconnected accidentally and then got the automated message saying chat is unavailable. 

 

Apparently there was to many cancelations and complaints. 

It wasn't until after an agent brought that up that I remembered about a year ago that someone hacked into my account and had fraud listings. But before I even knew about it ebay had already stepped in and handled it.  Said I was good to go. 

I opened my app, saw some return and refund requests that had already been resolved that baffled me. Then messages from eBay that they had it all fixed. I was forced to change my password too.

But according the agents there is no record of this and I'm sol.

How is ebay going to step in and fix this, never leave any record of it, and then punish me a year later for it???

What exact reason for the restriction was given by eBay in the message?

Ebay’s message is quite vague, and doesn’t tell us anything to help us to help you. You mentioned you had cancelled some listings? Defects can be given for seller-initiated transaction cancellations. How was your overall seller dashboard? Had you had many violations or suspensions previously?

 

The awful thing here is that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to get reinstated after being permanently restricted.

I only personally had two issues in the last few months. Probably my only two selling issues ever. I haven't been a major seller though. More a buyer. 

It was two phones that I was forced by att to purchase in order to save my job. Then was improperly lead to believe they were unlocked and they weren't. So it was a huge fiasco between the two buyers and trying to get them resolved. But I was in constant contact with the buyers and did every thing I could. 

They both got their money back. One I paid the almost $100 to have it shipped back. The other person got to keep the money and phone in our personal resolution.

Hmm, 2 problematic transactions doesn’t seem to me to be egregious enough to warrant the lifelong ban (unless eBay believed something unlawful happened).

 

It is possible to get shut down by an association with a restricted account. If eBay linked your account with another one that had been previously banned, your account would receive the same fate. But they normally would tell you that in their communication.

     Man I'm really sorry that your going thru this?

Couple Questions: when you say you were in constant contact with these two buyers, did you at anytime take those conversations outside of ebay? E-mail/Text and not ebay messaging? If you were messaging thru ebay, did you give any of these buyers your phone number?

 

Are you in the USA or the UK?

Thats why I think it has to do with the fraudulent listings when I was hacked.

USA. And no phone numbers exchanged.

 

It was almost entirely through ebay. While trying to work on resolving the issue and getting the phones unlocked....which never panned out...I did have to extend out side of ebay.

The first case requested the refund at the end. 

For the second one I had to give a partial refund through PayPal because we didn't know about the one time shot at a partial refund. Then when the case ran out of time I had to use paypal again to send them the rest of their money back and let them keep the phone.

I also was just suspended n the only reason given is my account is linked with n account that is banned so my account is banned and i do not even know the account. I told them ive only had one account n its been almost 10 years they are rude n said nothing they can do

Exact same thing. I get generic scripts. Then before I can say anything else or request more help they just disconnect the chat. Multiple agents in a row.

      You stated "I did have to extend outside of ebay", Now think back, what is this? Do you mean that you had to chat with the 1 buyer back and forth via something other than ebay messaging about the sold phone?

No. I just had to use PayPal to give a partial refund, pay for return shipping, and then a full refund. 

I did have to contact the second buyer through email, but that was after the case had ended and we could no longer contract each other through eBay.

     Thank you for getting back and that might be your problem ( and I said might)

Your account is somehow being linked with that buyer's acct and the corresponding via email. That buyer may have been involved/ restricted for something fraudulent and therefore " has ties to you" thru outside corresponding.

Now, we don't know 100% that this is what is happening but you said both of these phone transactions are about 2 months ago? Something in one or both of these sales have triggered this indefinite suspension that ebay feels is a threat.

Wow, I'm really sorry you have to go thru this but it doesn't look good.
