Unfair eBay

A customer bought a high end item from me costing thousands of dollars. First red flag was a request that I ship it right way with UPS overnight. When I went to PayPal, it was an e-check that would clear in five days. I informed the buyer I would not ship till the check cleared. The buyer blaming it on PayPal requested I cancel the order.

I did so. However for several days the buyer did not complete the cancellation. In fact his check never made it to my account. I got my invoice yesterday and eBay had included the FVF for the purchase even though they knew it was canceled the day after. Today I emailed the buyer and requested he complete the cancellation which he did.

Here is my problem with the email eBay sent me;

"You canceled an order from xxxxxxxx and we already notified them. You don't need to do anything else because the buyer hasn't paid for this order yet.

You'll get a final value fee credit in your account that you can apply toward listing more items to sell on eBay. Please note that it can take up to 24 hours to post the Final Value Fee credit to your account."

The FVF is for hundreds of dollars, and eBay is not refunding my money back to my PayPal account. All I am getting is a credit towards future FVF's since I never pay for listings. This is very unfair. They are keeping and using money that I can also be using for my business.

I thought of opening a case against them, but I suspect somewhere in the little print, I agreed to this. In my anger I am tempted to revoke the automatic PayPal settings I have with eBay for invoice payment and purchases.

Do I have any recourse here or am I screwed?

Re: Unfair eBay

I believe you can get a check issued for the credit.
