I just received a message from ebay. they are now going to set a minimum ammount that sellers can select in order to be included in promoted listings.
So basically, ebay created a new "fee" out of thin air when coming up with promoted listings.
In my opinion, ebay basically, messed up the search and specifics so badly that sellers were starving for sales. then ebay comes up with a new way to charge sellers. for basically the same service we already were supposed to be getting. Apparently enough sellers communciated through the grapevine and realized that as long as you promote some percentage, your listings will appear as often as everyone else that is promoting. 1% promotion had the save result as 5% promotion etc.
So greedbay now informs sellers that we can't promote at less than 2%..
The fact is, ebay has sellers just where they want them. there are 3 billion people in china and india... there are 300 million people in the united states. Ebay could care less about the us sellers that have built a business around ebay's platform.. there are 10 sellers in china ready to take our place.. and they will work for pennies.

It's absolutely despicable! They charge for the store plus fees and now.......extra to promote!! And they make it so difficult to remove the promotion if you want to remove it for a specific item.

Imagine if you sell on Amazon or Walmart, or even Etsy where they force 12% advertising fee no matter what. All eBay is doing is following suit. They are the lowest fee platform and still are, just keeping it tight with other platforms. Either adapt your business model or fail like many others.

and i bet those " 2% " are like T x 0.0275

And don't forget they are now charging the fee on the full amount of the transaction which includes any tax paid by the buyer. I absolutely will not be participating in this. I said that when they made the change to include tax but this truly is the last straw. I would rather give away some of my inventory that is
not yet listed to various charities than give more money to ebay. It will take less of my time and I may get a tax write off. My goal was to be done with selling on ebay by EOY 2023. Ebay just made it easier for me to meet my goal. I have a TON of stuff that I would rather donate at this point.

I removed all of my promotion and will not add any item again. When ever eBay comes up with new thing I just do the opposite. I still have the same volume and percentage is in my pocket now.

You are 100% right I've only been selling on eBay for a little while and it's absolutely horrible honestly there's too many fees by the time I get my money I'm like 60 to $80 short it's really ridiculous I'm trying to find a different platform to work under ebay is absolutely terrible in ways it's good because you got a wide audience but like you said the sellers in China and India is who gets put on first. I wish I had the money and to know how to make my own selling platform cuz I make it and only charge one fee that's a sales fee at 5% it ain't too hot and too low compared to eBay's 12.7% or 14% at the end of your cell I think I added it up last time and it was like 14 to 15% is what they've got my money every time.
