Buyer never paid for an item he purchased even after numerous messages. Every time it gets close to the date I can cancel the date sold changes and gives the buyer more time. What is going on with this? Eventually I had to cancel with another reason. Buyers feedback shows numerous issues with unpaid purchases.

So once you send a invoice(s) you have no idea when the item actually sold?
I find that hard to believe but i'll be the first to admit if i'm wrong.
On the Seller Hub Orders page it does change.
No idea if the order details page also changes. I would venture a guess that the order details page stays the same, but really I have no idea.
If you need someone with first hand experience other than me, @mr_lincoln will back up my statement. He's experienced the same thing. You can do a search on this board to find a lot of discussions about it. There are posts from eBay rep Tyler that also confirmed this.
Sending an invoice changes the "date sold" column on the seller hub orders page to the date of the most recent invoice sent out by a seller. 100%.
Whether eBay intended it to work that way, I don't know. But that is how the code was designed and how it functions.
@wastingtime101 Unless eBay changed it when an invoice is sent the 4 day countdown begins for payment ... if another invoice is sent sometime after the original invoice then the 4 day count down starts over so the date payment is due changes. The ending Auction time does not change but until the item is paid for a transaction with payment has not been completed.

This response is absurd. This used to never happen. You guys changed it. AND you changed it recently. When sending an invoice it should never change the date. Its just that simple. Are you all a bunch of monkeys? You keep pushing the blame on sellers when its clearly the fault of the developers. I am a developer OF ANOTHER COMPANY and a seller. If this is the response you give you should be fired. Its just that simple. Don't change the date when an invoice is sent. If you always send reminders, don't allow us to send reminders or don't change the date. And stop blaming us.

eBay is not here. This is a user forum composed of buyers and sellers that are trying to explain how eBay really works. If you think a policy is absurd, that is not the fault of those explaining it to you.
You keep pushing the blame on sellers
No one here is doing that, aside from you.

The sold date should never change. You are right. EBAY is blaming sellers who send out invoices. Once again, this is not the sellers fault. Its EBAY'S fault and their developers need to start being held accountable for this nonsense. And they changed this recently. If we send an invoice it should not change the date, its just that simple. The fact that it is, is obviously an error on the developers part and they need to fix it. As a developer 15+ years and a user who sells on EBAY, I know what I am talking about. This causes a big problem when the buyer has not paid. We can't then close the transaction and tell EBAY that they have not paid.

Hi @fastchas-h and welcome.
Just to clarify—The forum is made up of eBay buyers and sellers like yourself. We are not eBay employees.
This thread is several months old. Since everyone’s voice should be heard, I would suggest starting a new thread to further the discussion.

This response is 'wastingtime'. Your obviously a rep from EBAY. Sending an invoice should never change the date. Its just that simple. This was changed recently and it is a developer error and needs to be fixed. Sellers should be able to send reminder invoices and it not change the date. Once again EBAY you are blaming sellers when it is your fault. Fix it and knock it off. Or get better developers or talk to sellers more instead of blaming us.

@fastchas-h wrote:The sold date should never change.
There are really two dates involved:
1) The date the buyer pushed the button to buy.
2) The date the clock starts ticking for the buyer to pay.
IMHO the date the clock starts ticking for the buyer to pay should absolutely be reset when the seller sends a new invoice.

It never was reset before. It should never be reset now. Talk about a nightmare inventory management system you have. You are obviously an EBAY rep and a dunce.

Simple, don't send extra invoices. The extra time allowed to pay after seller sends an invoice as been going on for a while now, it's not new. If the buyer isn't going to pay, they are not, more invoices ain't going the change that. Cancel for nonpayment in the time allotted by eBay and give the buyer a strike. Use the tool we have available.

The folks that work for eBay have "@ebay" in their usernames.
None of the people responding in this thread work for eBay, speak for eBay, or set policy for eBay.

Saying EBAY is not on here is absurd. Most of us were not born yesterday.

When someone gives a detailed response about what is going on and they have 0 feedback, who do you think they are? And why wouldn't you blame EBAY developers after all the mess that's gone on. Why would you defend EBAY at this point? Its a simple answer.
