Mail lady just stop by, they had a meeting(rural couriers) and were told their only require to scan a few packages when they do a pick up. She was told she only had to scan 5 packages when she picks up, even if you have 20, and let the sorting center to scan the rest. You have to tell the courier, to their face to scan them all. You also can print off a bulk shipping when you put in the pick up(online), they'll scan the sheet but won't include anything you sold over night and pack the next morning.
Really bad because our sorting center in St. Louis only scans half the packages as it is. I have a feeling I'll be getting alot of "where's my package" emails, well more then I'm getting now. I'm am lucky because I have a great mail lady, but her subs, won't be scanning them all.

Software hit my mail lady's scanner too, she had to scan pick up sheet, scan 5 packages and repeat. I doubt ebay will do anything about it because soon they'll be able to add 6% late penalty fee

Okay, thanks; I had a feeling that might be the case.
tyler@ebay : I don't know why eBay is having such a hard time figuring out how to generate a SCAN sheet from seller-selected shipments, as seen on the Manage All Orders page under Seller Hub. That is, once you have all your shipments for that day ready to go out, you should be able to just check off the ones to be listed on the SCAN sheet and click a button to generate it for them. (Check the box on each row to select the item, then go to the "More" pulldown menu and select a "Print SCAN Sheet" option [to be created].)
The relevant tracking numbers for each item have already been generated (and are even showing on the Manage All Orders page under Seller Hub) , so it's not like the SCAN information has to be retrieved from someplace else; it's already been retrieved for display on that page. In addition, the structure of the "More" pulldown already supports working with multiple choices collectively, so it just doesn't seem like adding SCAN sheet functionality should be all that difficult.
If it really cannot be added to that page, can we at least get a plausible explanation from the developers as to why they cannot work it out?

They haven't been able to put combine shipping on their app in 4 years, I wouldn't hold your breathe. Also for the ones who do scan sheets, can that be done an my thermal label printer, 4x6 or am I gonna be spending a ton of money on ink cartridges.
I sell fishing items so this is my slow time of year 10-20 packages a day but come end of April it'll jump to 30-50 a day, she's not going to scan and repeat when its 100 degrees or thunderstorms.
And for the record I check scans thru St. Louis sorting hub, only 2/3 are getting scanned, the rest don't get scan for a couple days either at the new sorting hub OR out for delivery.

since you paged Tyler, I'm just going to add
jasmen@ebay b/c she is the one who is working on trying to get a hold of Nate to figure out wth is going on & why the USPS is trying to make it harder for us to get an Acceptance Scan & we are all being subjected to this with no notice (though I can tell you that today my carrier told me they got no notice either). So Jasmen, this is another aspect of this issue. If we are truly stuck with being forced to do these SCAN sheets for 6 pkgs, we need a simple way to do it that does not involve Bulk Shipping, which many of us don't use & prefer not to use!
The bar of 5 is so low, that even occasional sellers are going to hit it. I don't use Bulk Shipping b/c I normally average 2-3 sales/day. Not enough to deal with the ugly mess that's Bulk Shipping or deal with a SCAN sheet, up til now.

All you have to do is check with your postmaster. The pickup done by carriers USED to be fully scanned however, if you do not supply the top sheet which includes ALL your items with tracking in one scan then they simply take them into the local station at the end of their route, it gets scanned then that same day upon leaving that facility as is REQUIRED every day at every location. Then the item is on the way to the next point and is usually scanned same day there a second time before change of day or shortly thereafter. I have shipped close to 1m since 1998. Too experienced. Yea I said that. TOO experienced.

Rubberbanding seller scan sheet on top with the packages solves this. I don't think carriers are lazy. I have found people just need to do their shipping correctly and then 99.9999999% of "issues" don't happen. 🙂

Hahahahaha. I have shipped since 97. MANY locations do NOT scan every pkg upon leaving the facility. That's so incorrect it's funny. Many locations have sort centers that are in other cities now, so the scan doesn't happen til the next day, as a matter of course (mine is one of those, so is my mom's in another state, it's very common w/sort centers closing). Many PO's wait for the sort center to scan.
Also, many PO's don't scan if they are too busy. They know they're required to. Mine told me, "you want us to scan them or get them on their way"? LOL. The station manager knows it's required & doesn't care. Been going on for 4 years now, even spoke to the USPS for Business specialist in the big city an hour north, she said she can't make him do his job. They called him & told him he was breaking the rules, no one cares. Not some rogue little country PO either, it's the busiest PO in a city of close to 1M.
I *wish* everything worked as smoothly & easily as you say & if it does for you, count yourself lucky. Frankly, there are still a bunch of PO's (not mine thankfully) which even refuse to scan at the counter, which they're 'not allowed' to refuse. But we read about them here every day. If things really work that smoothly where you are & everyone follows the rules, you are a lucky guy or gal 🙂

Its an easy fix. Take your stuff to the post office. That simple.

Ayup. The departure scan is a container scan, not a direct scan (of the package). When the container is scanned, the departure scan is added to the tracking records of every package within it. If a package has not had an Acceptance scan before that point, its record will not be updated because the system doesn't "know" that it's in the container.
Thus its first in-network sighting may not occur until it reaches the origin sort facility and passes through automated scanners there. If that is its first sighting, the system will create an Accepted at Origin Sort record (or similar wording). (One odd detail about this: although the timestamp will be correct, the location will be shown as its PO of origin, not the location of the sort facility.) Once that occurs, eBay can finally recognize the package as Shipped, though this may not occur until after your Handling time has expired.
Thus it's important to have either a SCAN sheet listing the package or a direct Acceptance scan of the package itself at dropoff time, so that both eBay and USPS will know that it's on the way.

That's completely wrong, taking it to the post office does not solve anything. The local post office in my small town of 4000 just told me they will only scan 5 packages when you bring them in, no more. So you either bring a scan sheet or you don't get acceptance scans.
What am I going to do? Drive a 80 mile round trip to drop things off at a fedex location every day? Call an American company 1-800 number to complain so I can talk to someone 3000 miles away that doesn't care?
Ebay needs to improve their scan sheet system. You should be able to print one label at a time, and then when you're done, generate the scan sheet. You can't do that though, you have to enter all your labels at the same time via the bulk shipper in order to be able to print a scan sheet.

I looked into using Sixbit last night for the SCAN sheet & here's what I found, directly from their Help document. So, no help to me, since I use Ebay for labels. But posting in case it helps someone else.
SCAN form features will only be visible if Endicia or Express1 has been integrated into SixBit.

@lja440-- can you shed some light on whether this local limited-scans policy is within USPS overall rules?
OK, First there is no limit to the acceptance scans, only the number in the batch. Sometimes the scanner may only take 5 (random number) barcodes. If I am picking up 10 (also random number)packages I hit accepted after the first batch then scan the second batch. It's a bit of a PITA but I still scan them ALL.
As of this week we have a new Rural Mail Route scanning system. It is now more like the City Carriers. We clock in with the scanner, we then go to Rural scans and scan the top piece of each bundled flat. before casing. once done casing we scan that we are loading our vehicle, then again when we finish loading and leave for the route, again we scan if we have to deviate from the route (road closed) and when we get to a point where we can pick up the route again. We also now have a scan for packages without tracking. The biggest change is we now get PAID (18 seconds per package) and if we have to take Multible packaged to a porch. OK, OK , I know 18 seconds doesn't translate into a windfall paycheck wise but as I normally deliver 100 or more packages per day, 100 packages at 18 seconds does add up. If they don't scan your packages then they are just cheating themselves out of money.

Whelp got my 1st complaint email today, was not scanned on 7th when picked up, 38" priority box, just POOF gone, no scan at St. Louis sorting center either(30 miles from me), after 4 days most have been delivered.

Thank you for posting this! This is what I've been telling Ebay on the other thread. Despite the fact that Ebay is saying there are no changes, there is IN FACT NEW SOFTWARE ON THE SCANNERS that is now limiting the number of items that can be picked up without a SCAN sheet. My carrier wasn't sure if that work around would work. He's currently using the H scan for the first 5 & then going back to the old way, for the rest, but he thinks it's likely the old way will go away & he won't be able to do that anymore.
I don't understand why Ebay Shipping team won't take this seriously, when it's clearly NEW SOFTWARE the carriers are using, as well as new memos that have been sent out. They're acting like it's not real, but it IS VERY REAL. I'm going to reach out to Ina hopefully next week, b/c all that came down from Ebay is that there's been no change, which is patently untrue. I've seen the new software in action, myself.

I wrote Ina last week and she replied back, asking for some kind of proof and I told her its all over the boards which she did see and read. As far as proof to policy, good luck finding it in USPS 100,00 search that comes up.
Got my 2nd email complaint today, this one got scanned picked up then nothing since Monday. The complaint from yesterday, showed up today when the buyer picked it up at the PO, it wasn't even scanned when it arrived at his PO. SO I pulled up my archived orders for this week, all but the one was scanned picked up(great mail lady) BUT only 20% were scanned at my local sorting center, most weren't scanned until either at the buyers PO or when delivered.
I called my post master and got talked at like I would never do to any of my customers saying there is no such policy, UH your the one that told your carriers the new policy AND their scanners have been updated to that effect. She called me a liar, REALLY, and on top of that, it wasn't her problem if St. Louis doesn't scan or not. I tried to explain ebay's policy about pick up scans and metrics and even if the carriers don't scan, the sorting centers do have to. Again not her problem.
