What do I do?
I directly dropped off USPS package like every package I have ever done on Monday. USPS doesn't do their job and still has never scanned it. Looks like I never dropped it off.
Buyer sees this and says he will cancel tomorrow if it doesn't show up. I explain to him that USPS tracking isn't always accurate, but he doesn't believe me. He thinks I never shipped it.
Unreasonable, does he not know there are delays at this time?
I'm gonna lose all my money ain't I, all because a USPS worker never scanned the package.
eBay doesn't help and just tells me to talk to USPS. Can't go to USPS because all the workers do is just look up the tracking and sees it hasn't been dropped off either...
All because a USPS worker didn't do their job. Plus side, buyer gets a free $480 item.

The buyer can request that you cancel the order, but they can't do it themselves. The package should get a scan at some point along the way - at the very least it should get a scan when it gets to the buyer's local PO.
Sign up for tracking updates at USPS.com so you get an alert when scans finally start showing.
The buyer shouldn't be able to open a not received claim on eBay before the estimated delivery date. What's the estimated delivery date?

If there is no acceptance scan.........no one knows that you shipped........ If no scans at all........probably never got out of where you dropped it off........
Had it happen to me, which is the reason we now always get a receipt when we drop stuff off........

I'm sure everything will turn out correctly for you. Your item will be delivered and your buyer will be satisfied. However let this be a lesson to you moving forward. All you have to do is get your package scanned while you are there. Don't ever rely on another person doing their job, we don't know what could have occurred after that delayed your package from being scanned immediately. Any number of things could have prevented the scan.
Plus the fact that this was a $480 item that you were shipping. I wait for every one of my packages to be scanned. Frankly they all know me at my local PO and they know I wait for my scans. I make chatter back and forth while they scan my items and always thank them. I have never not had an item scanned, so have never had to deal with INR or messages from buyers asking if I shipped their item. We learn and we move on. Best of luck to you....

Glad it worked out! I see so many folks just dropping off packages at the PO and walking away. If I have to go to PO (luckily my packages are usually picked up by USPS), I always ask them to scan and get the receipt - they will do up to 6 per visit. It is worth it to avoid anxiety. I once had a postal worker tell me (after dropping off a package and not seeing any movement for nearly a week) that sometimes the package goes out and only gets scanned at the destination PO. Go figure.

I no longer ship on Mondays.
The system is so overwhelmed on the weekends, by Monday boxes are piled up.
Best to wait and ship on Tuesdays. Usually gets there faster, and more consistent travel times.

LOL, I guess I'm cheap because I stand in line even for my $5.00 items and I'm disabled. I don't always use my wheelchair, many times I use my cane and hobble in, but always stand in line.
One time I was waiting in a long line to get my items scanned. I noticed there were people both in front of me and behind me with the tell tale eBay logo boxes. We were all just minding our own business. Occasionally someone would walk in with items and just drop them off at the counter and leave.
A postal worker came out from behind the counter with a cart and started to grab the items. She was literally just scanning and dropping them into her cart. You could hear them banging down one upon the other. More than one she dropped on the floor and would get all irritated, then snatch it up and throw it in her cart. Those of us in line all looked at each other and were thinking, this is why we stand in line to wait rather then leaving them at the counter. Frankly anyone could have walked in and casually snagged one of the smaller envelopes and walked away. There is no one monitoring them, they are just left at the counter. Porch pirates steal them from door steps so why not take them before they are even delivered? I'm sure it happens....

I am going through the exact same thing. I scheduled a pick up for this past Monday and the package was picked up. Tracking info shows a label was printed but nothing else. Today the buyer opened a case against me.
Never had this problem with USPS before. The package has not had time to reach my buyer so hopefully I can hold him off a few more days.
Over 20 years selling on EBay and this is a first!

I have had issues with USPS not scanning my items so I have gone to getting a receipt from the postal worker showing that ist was received.
I also track my packages periodically through USPS. If I haven't seen movement in a few days and it's during the week I call the post office to track it.
Strangely enough I usually get a scan that done somewhere in the system. If I have a package that I sent first class and it is over 5 days I open a tracking case with the post office. Again strangely enough when a package hasn't moved in the 5 days miracululously it gets scanned and or delivered that day.
If a package is going to be late I let my customer know what I have found out from the post office. I have had good response from customers doing this so far.
For some reason now I have run into the problem that on Ebay it doesn't update the tracking info, but if I go to track it on the USPS site it shows movement.

I am having the same issue...Ebay not showing parcel accepted, shipping and tracking. USPS site is correct and show accepted and in transit. What is going on Ebay....Please correct!!! Buyers don't need another reason to file an unwarranted claim.
