USPS Suspends Regular Mail Delivery

President Donald J. Trump has declared December 5 as a national day of mourning, calling on Americans to remember the vast contributions of former President George H.W. Bush.

To honor the life and legacy of President Bush, the Postal Service will observe the national day of mourning.

• All Post Office® locations will be closed.
• Regular mail will not be delivered.
• Package delivery will be limited.

Um, not to nag, but how will we be protected?  Do we have to call CS if we see a late metric?

I have 2-day handling and as of less than an hour ago, last time I looked, anything purchased today said "ship by Thursday, December 6."  That does not take tomorrow's USPS closure into account.

Yep, I just sold something a few minutes ago. I have one day handling and Ebay is showing to ship tomorrow.

Ebay labels show Wed, 5 Dec

AND

stamps.com gives tomorrow's date as well.

Hi @sharingtheland, typically for widespread issues like this we are able to automatically provide protections. In the event that a disruption occurs on a local level (ie. a snowstorm in a more remote area shuts down the local office for a day), we can confirm this online and provide the same protections. My metrics show 3 late shipping dings, all from december 5th.  I thought this was supposed to be automatically taken care of?  How do we fix it?

6 late shipments for shipment tracking uploaded late.

All 6 were purchased on 12/4 AFTER our cutoff time listed with ebay.

All 6 had Ship By 12/5 written by Ebay under them.

I had the same thing happen.  Customer purchased item on 12-4.  I printed a label on 12-5.  Mail carrier did not come on 12-5 (Post Office closed for National Day of Mourning).   Mail carrier picked up and scanned package on 12-6.

I received a strike for a Late Shipment.

Too bad the taxpayers who paid for Federal employees to get a day off to honor a president many of them didn't vote for don't get a day off themselves.
