USPS PRIORITY TAPE

Can someone explain how Ebay allows (5) Dealers to Sell United States Postal Priority Mail tape?

One particular Dealer shows (12 ) Sold!

Tape clearly states: "misuse may be a violation of federal law. This label is not for resale"

If i'm not mistaken, Priority Mail tape was not free.  You had to pay for it. Thus selling it on ebay should not be a problem.

I don't think the USPS offers it anymore.

One of the big office supply chain stores was selling the free boxes the PO gives away ($3.50 a box!) until I reported them to both the local post office (who stopped giving them any) and the manager who stopped adding the charge to the shipping (when acting as a shipping drop off site).

The blue and red tape with priority mail printed on it is free but rarely given out to anybody.  You cant order it and **bleep** sure cant sell it.

I must be one of the lucky few people that can get a roll of Priority Mail tape free, just by asking.  My PO is in a very small city -only one stoplight.  I'm there a couple of times a week dropping off packages so maybe they want me to keep using USPS. I dunno.  Knock on wood.

Yeah we used to have one nice clerk who would give out the used rolls but the managers made him stop. Not sure why.

Many years ago the "tape" (formally known as label 106) was one of the free supplies that you could order, just the same as ordering the free boxes.  But there was so much abuse, USPS stopped offering it.  As noted in some other posts, occasionally a PO clerk will give away a roll that they have behind the counter.

Several years ago after my mother died, I found several rolls of it in her office, and listed it on eBay. The listing was taken down.

I believe it's still available in the military base mailing kits, the last time I ordered some anyway.  Very small role.

But yeah, selling them is not allowed.

I get it from my mail lady. She gave me a whole box because of over stock that they told her to throw it away but instead she gave to me. I guess I could sell it but I use it myself 🙂
