I just do not understand how USPS can increase rates later this month and cannot deliver items on a timely basis.
There is not any guidance from USPS regarding shipping times. I know the distribution centers in Phila, NJ, Chicago, NY and areas all around the country are being delayed 2 weeks or more. I have stop using USPS completely. It is not the USPS workers fault but Congress and Dejoy are to blame. Fire Dejoy!
The worst part of the price increases have to do with surcharges, as UPS, FEDEX and USPS have increased cost shipping to rural areas. Thousands of zip codes have been added to the surcharge list over last year. If you are shipping with any of these carriers and are offering free shipping the cost can double if the zip code in is a area that demands charges for rural areas. A example would be 78004 to test your listings.
I have my listings only with calculated shipping and have lowered my prices to help with the costs. I am losing money on every sale but at least I am turning inventory into cash and not subjecting the buyer to unrealistic delivery times. I do not plan on purchasing any new inventory. I think it would be prudent of Ebay to temporary lower the selling fees to help the sellers stay in business. The whole situation is terrible.

if a worker at a usps sort facility test postive for covid then every other other worker that has had direct contact with him has to quarantine for at least 14 days. say for instance 49-50 people hung around that person at any given time in the plant.. nobody left to do the job. every thing stops. either wait on the employees to come back or hire more people

The USPS does not charge a 'surcharge' to deliver to remote locations.
FexEx and UPS are the ones that do that.
Fire CONGRESS because they are the ones that saddled USPS with pre-paying pensions 20 years in advance. And refuse to remove it or adjust it. Since the ONLY money USPS receives is some Covid19 aid, they like every company, have to survive on their income. LeJoy was doing what every effective company President does when the ship is in the red. Actually, he implemented practices that were planned over a year before his appointment. The Unions have chosen to make him a scapegoat.
Postal employees can get up to 21 days if exposed to Covid. It can take as much as 3 months to get hired by the PO. Shortages of staff result in slow moving packages. UPS telling their large company customers "you can ship only X amount of orders with us during the holidays, the rest you will have to USPS". So UPS looks better and USPS suffers.
The rate increase was approved in November. The USPS needs government approval, FIRE THE BOARD THAT APPROVED THE INCREASE. One person did not decide to raise rates.

I was reviewing my orders yesterday and noticed one had not been delivered yet.
Shipped Dec. 28th Priority 2 day going to NJ. Things started good. Was in CT by Dec. 31. Then all of a sudden, it arrives in MO on the Jan 4th and then in KS later that day. Last update is it left KS on the 6th and moving.

Perhaps if they raise their rates they will have the resources to more efficiently deliver.

2 years ago our region had a massive retirement of workers. Their replacements found
out they actually had to go outside, take mail out of their bag and leave it in a mailbox.
Many could not overcome their shock and quit.
Others ended up with Covid.
I gave up dealing with the declining quality of service and switched back to UPS. My
neighborhood went from a central location with excellent service to more like one that
operates like an impoverished country.

::general reply::
To those that use Fedex and UPS - they can stop taking packages when they become overloaded. They cut off many, many MAJOR retailers during the holidays. (Google it, it's a fact.) Guess where all those denied packages wound up?
Yep - USPS. USPS is mandated to accept any properly addressed and paid for mail.
So, Fedex and UPS are delivering (for the most part) on time, because they threw their overload onto the already overloaded USPS, who during normal times delivers more than both of those carriers combined. USPS handles almost half of the world's mail anyway, now they have to fool with Fedex and UPS because they can't handle their own volume.
We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did. - Thomas Sowell
