Why are people trying to sell 1c - 3c common postage stamps for $1,000 to $5,000 dollars. Used 1c -10c common stamps are being listed on eBay for thousands of dollars which is absolutely crazy. Can't something be done to stop people with 0 to 99 ratings from listing such common regular issues for thousands of dollars per stamp

I am, guessing by your user name that you are a stamp dealer.

The simple answer to your question is that they are from the far let side of the Bell Curve.

The second answer is that since they will probably never sell anything they will not cut into your business.

So why fret over something you simply can not control. Eventually, in the absence of sales, they will go away.

Be grateful that they are not undercutting the price of your valuable offerings. That will affect your business.

Is anyone buying them?

I can ask as much as I want for my item.  I have over 99 feedback. What would be the difference from a 50 feedback seller listing for big money than a 500 feedback seller.

Some sellers list things with big money prices to get the listing in place for whatever reason without actually expecting anyone to purchase.

I raise all my prices ($29 to $600 items) $1000 increase while on vacation. I found if I put on vacation, buyers don't read and if I 'block' all my BIN items, nothing is shown (black out) and when I return and turn back on, it takes a week before my listings have the border that directs customers to my store.

That, and sometimes a promo is running that ends before a seller has time to get the listing completely ready.

If  using OOS it is no problem. Just put up a title, and "0" quantity.  If no OOS then a bare minimum listing with a price no one will pay to get the listing in place before the promo ends.  Sometimes I source stuff to close to the end of a promo to get the pics done.

Pricing increase does not always work. On one occasion when I was not going to be able to ship I bumped all my prices up. At the time my seller $ limit only allowed me to  ^^^ $50 per item. Woman purchased the item for her son for way more than it should cost. She did not really know the value of the item, just knew it was what he needed.  Messaged, refunded, relisted at a fair price when i would be able to ship.

Oh - thanks for the idea. eBay just finished a promo for 20% FVF credit on collectibles. Ended on 11/26. I had some items to go but wasn't going to have them ready/in stock in time so I missed the promo.

Your idea would have rescued it. Nice. Thanks,.

Wife recently hit one of the 50% off FVF on up to 10 items promo. No category restriction. Scrambled to get some things on, and then got the camera out when there was some sunshine. We use the OOS, so it works for the "fixed price" items. Seldom do an auction.    4 sold. Won't go to Vegas on the savings, but it all helps.
