Looks like the flood of Chinese made goods on Ebay and other platforms may take a major hit if Trump follows thru. Not good for them but good for US sellers and manufacturers.

We are really hoping this goes through. We think it will help U.S sellers also. Best regards

From NYT:
State Department officials were expected on Wednesday to inform officials at the Universal Postal Union in Bern, Switzerland, a branch of the United Nations that administers the treaty, of their intention to pull out of the system and "self-declare” new, higher rates on China, a United States official said.
According to the union’s rules, members will have a year to renegotiate new terms before the withdrawal becomes permanent.
Wow, about time. Treat is from 1874 and not fair in today's world.

"... It is often possible for a Chinese company to sell ‘knockoff’ products through online vendors, such as Amazon or [ebay], to U.S. consumers for less than it costs for American mailers to ship authentic goods. Moreover, while USPS loses an estimated $1 on every small package that arrives from China, outbound mail of American exporters is charged at well above cost.” ..."
The UN (and their international postal rate setting bureau - the UPU) considers mainland China to be a developing nation worthy of subsidies from developed nations like the USA.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. It's Phase 1 of negotiations over much broader trade issues.

😉
The issue isn't 144 years old and it predates 2008 but the current director of the UN UPU is a Kenyan named "Bishar Abdirahman Hussein".

Sounds like it could take a year to exit the treaty. Sigh, was hoping for a quick exit and then they renegociate.

Wow, if this happens what are all the 99 cent free shipping junkies going to do to get their fix??
Frankly, it's about time. I'm sorry, but China is no longer a developing nation, I don't care how anyone tries to spin it.

China is still a communist nation, I don't care how anyone tries to spin it.
