Gave in a registered mail package 11,23,2018 to my NYC post office.

All is ever said for tracking is “in transit”

Still in transit.

Call US post office 1800 number.

Had plenty of options but NO live person can came to phone.

Said to speak to a representative it’s more than 1 hour wait time.

The last time I requested a pick up, earlier this week, my mail carrier didn't get the request. She said there was a problem with the USPS computers. Good thing I was watching for her!

At about 7 pm, I got the scan notice by email that usually shows up in minutes. So I don't know if it was a short term problem or ongoing.

As an above poster said - there was a large influx of packages with the Black Friday and Cyber Monay shoppers - and there is Amazon who's packages are front and center with the new agreement - but the USPS has hired many temporary workers and they are not refilling positions where anyone retired in Nov / Dec until after Jan 2nd.

My 2 favorite ladies retired Dec 2nd from my local PO which has the most volume of any other PO in the Western region. The other workers were shocked to find out that their positions would not be filled until after 1/2/19 and one was a front end manager. I went in yesterday and I recognized one front end employee of the 5 windows that were opened. These temp workers do not get the benefits the regular USPS employees do - so service suffers.

3 packages I mailed 7-10 days ago are still in transit.

Something similar is why my package took 10 days. Fed Ex did not pick it up in time to go out that day, further delaying it. But when ebay asked in feedback if I got it in time, I hit yes. I always do because you cannot blame seller when it is not their fault.

Yes, the USPS system appears to be almost in shock over the amount of Black Friday/ Cyber Moday packages. Not much moving going on. Noticed too some UPS & FedEx Smart Post packages I was expecting to receive just got thier delivery dates pushed back by another two days and those are sitting at my local terminal waiting to be put in the USPS system for last mile delivery.

Our regional center had the highest retirement rate in the country, almost 50% of employees

retired in the past year. The post office for my city is essentially a store front, just selling

postage and receiving packages (no mail sorting is done there anymore). Lines are hideously

long and slow, a 30 minute+ wait is not uncommon.

The ony part of the city that gets dependable pickup and delivery is the core business district.

Anyone outside of the district gets their mail when they get it and the carriers are sent all over

the place so they never know when they will get back to their assigned routes. It's a mess.

I went from dependable set your watch pickup and delivery to now if I am lucky, I get

delivery before 6.30pm.

The frustrating thing is I am one block from the core business disctrict. If I have to leave early

I have to go chase one of the 2 business district carriers and give them my packages to get

scanned and sent out because I can't wait for midnight delivery and pickup.

And this not even due to the holiday season.

The last item bought on ebay was sent First Class Package clear across the country and was delivered in 2 days (rec'd today). Meanwhile, a Priority from next state has been sitting in a sort facility for 3 days now, as well as another item bought before that one!

The Mrs here is a postie. They do have a weird and slow method of hiring.

You also have to be "in the know" to even apply for a job. They don't seem to advertise to the general public.

Same here , in fact two of the packages I mailed on Nov .23rd still have no acceptance scan . I finally received the first dreaded message from one of my buyers this morning ''Where's my order '' ? Tulips

Now I am not saying your package was lost.

what I am saying is I get a lot of packages. And often times I get the initial scan and the ending scan and absolutely nothing in the middle.

My last package took 10 days. No tracking until the last day when it all updated at once.

This has happened many times with usps.

The very last tracking update showed the registered mail article to be at a distribution center. No tracking update since has ever appeared.

However I have received the registered mail article, because the contents was mailed to me, via ordinary first class mail by the person to whom it was mistakenly delivered, who then paid the postage to ship it to me..using postage stamps

Interesting when I contacted their local post office they have no record of ever having received it for delivery, yet someone working for USPS did deliver it.

Conclusion

According to a USPS employee it's still somewhere at the distribution center, appears lost.

The person who received & shipped the misdelivered registered mail article out to me, placed the contents within a new envelope, & also added their return label.

Room for improvement USPS !

2nd time Called USPS again.

only machine options available. No person to speak to.

again says tracking shows in transit.

(since 11-23-2018) nothing more...

speak to representative hold time again stated more than 1 hour...

I have about 14 packages stuck up in North Houston Texas some arrived over 7 days ago.... Just sitting. 4 made it out today... First class and Priority mail The funning thing is the packages that made it through I bought last, The earlier ones just say deliver date unknown...... My pacakages that I sent out seem to be doing ok Its just the ones I have coming in Stuck.... I had a package Nov 17 Shipped from Galveston Texas to Houston Texas take 7 days it took a trip through San juan , Puerto Rico........ Good Luck Everyone.
