Two different items bought by two different accounts, but both provided the same phone number in PM?

I sold two Funko Pop figures. Each their own listing. A few hours after I accepted their best offers, both accounts messaged me asking to discuss payment over phone number. They provided the same number and messaged me 10 minutes apart. What's up with this?

It is a scam, don't call, don't text, don't expect to get paid.

Sell your items as buy it now only, immediate payment required, to reduce scammers buying your items.

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

there is nothing to discuss.they need to pay for the items

you are being set up for fraud.....asking for your phone number spells trouble

stay away from phone number and gift cards

after 4 days you can cancel for non payment..that is what you should do

please ignore anyone asking to use the phone or text.they are up to no good

DO NOT do anything outside of eBay's channels. This has SCAM written all over it. (and a common what at that)

There is nothing to discus. Tell them (only through eBay emails) to pay the invoice from eBay through eBay. If they try to offer some other method of payment cancel and block. Even if you get an email purporting to show payment DOUBLE CHECK  your own internal payment page. I'm betting it won't be there.

Here's how eBay works:

  1. The seller lists an item.
  2. The buyer either buys the item or wins an auction.
  3. The buyer pays for the item through eBay.
  4. The seller ships the item.

This is all automatic, and sellers do not need to "discuss" payment with buyers.

If the buyer does not pay through eBay, the buyer is either (a) trying to scam you; (b) no longer interested; or (c) incapable of completing a simple task.

No matter which case it is, they are not someone you want to deal with or sell to.

@nota9689- wait out the 5 days and follow the unpaid item process.

Do not respond to the scammer messages. Add the IDs to your blocked buyer list.
