Treated unfairly

I was treated unfair by ebay. To make a long story short. I made a mistake and listed an item for 1.00 and someone purchased the item and we was told by a ebay staff before that if we should cancel and relist and if they left bad feedback they would help me with it.  I did and we was left bad feedback and ebay refuses to help me or remove the bad feedback.  The trouble is we had our bad feedback removed from another auction in the past where the seller just canceled on us for no reason and we left bad feedback and the seller got our bad feedback removed. Its very unfair as we just made a simple mistake. What can we do as a seller?

Personally, when I put an incorrect price on at item (and I did just a few weeks ago), I simply honor it.

If you offer something at a certain price, then refuse to see it at that price, the customer is entitled to their opinion.

I'm surprised that another seller was able to get one removed when they cancelled on you.  Also, it's ironic that you felt it was OK to leave bad fb for that seller, but it's not OK for your buyer to do the same.

Once again ebay's very poor outsourced customer service led you wrong - they should have told you that the mistake was yours, you CAN receive negative feedback which will not be removed, and if you cancel a paid transaction you would receive a defect on your account as well. Bottom line: Your mistake, your problem. Not unfair at all.

Actually the cancellation could hurt you much more than the feedback.  What reason did you use?   I don't see any reason for the feedback to qualify for removal.  Taking advice from random ebay reps can harm your account.  Hopefully you don't have more defects on your account, so getting one shouldn't be too big of an issue.

sorry u listened to the CS Rep who pretty much tell u what u want 2 hear 2 get u off the phone regardless of consequences
I t was your mistake not the buyers you really should have honored the transaction and taken the lose we all make mistakes that's human but when we do we should deal with outcome
I once sold a necklace listed it 4 $2,00 instead of the 20.00 I should have listed it for but still honored the sale
yah it pained me 2 to it but I still honored the sale

I'm not trying to pass judgement, but I'm curious as to how, or if, you contacted your buyer to discuss what happened?

I made a big mistake last year.  I sold a pair of sneakers that my husband bought (and loved) for himself, and unfortunately,  I thought they were to sell.  They sold very quickly before hubby realized that I had listed them.   I could have shipped, but love overruled that option, since hubby seldom finds shoes he likes.

It never occurred to me to call ebay to see if they would protect me (from myself).  I wrote my buyer and told him the complete truth.  He was great and told me to not worry about it.  Yes, I was lucky, but I deserved a negative and would have accepted it.   I cancelled for out of stock and I have worn that defect for almost a year now.

The fact that you canceled a valid transaction does not make this a positive experience for the buyer. It is unfortunate that eBay said they would protect you after you failed to complete a valid transaction. They should have told you to suck it up and ship the item and learn from your mistake.

The trouble is we had our bad feedback removed from another auction in the past where the seller just canceled on us for no reason and we left bad feedback and the seller got our bad feedback removed.

Apples and oranges. In this previous case, your buyer treated you unfairly and you probably did not deserve negative feedback. In the current case, you treated the buyer unfairly and IMHO deserve the negative feedback.

So if CS told you that the unhappy buyer CAN leave negative feedback you would not have cancelled and shipped for the $1 price ?

I'm thinking they meant feedback they left the seller was removed.

Op you cancelling because of the wrong price doesn't qualify for feedback removal    the rep was wrong to tell you that.  As for why the other seller had theirs was removed it could have qualifed for any number of valid reasons under eBay policy.

You were not treated unfairly if you listed it incorrectly. Now the buyer is upset and you think they shouldn't be able to state so?

Because your feedback was removed; there's lots to each story so that really has no bearing on this case.

Good morning @bellamytrees , sorry you were not treated honestly by the eBay phone rep.  As far as the pricing mistake, I have to agree with @dk0 to honor your price.  I think many Sellers make mistakes on price, shipping cost, etc. but seldom repeat those mistakes because they learn from them.

I received bad feedback over a stupid mistake and they are unwilling to remove the bad feedback but they remove my feedback that we left on anther auction, under the very same story line? Look we want my feedback removed or we want my bad feedback put back in place. It's only fair.

You are not stating anything different than your opening post. Your feedback and the 'other' feedback are 2 different things. Could've been what you stated that allowed it's removal. Could've been a 'ebay glitch' that caused the other sellers price issue etc. Could be that seller has 400000 by their name and are much more important than you. Either way, yours was deserved as it upset a buyer, and the other case has nothing to do with this one.

This sounds much like the 'officer, everyone else is going 80mph too'.
