Does Ebay care at all about anyone selling? I am getting returns because people are constantly stating an item is not described. I Just got one today of an encased Comic. It said it was broken in the title, description, and about 6 pics of just the cracks. The buyer said it wasn't as described and wouldn't have bought it if he knew it was broken. I contacted Ebay and they said they had to side with the buyer on this one and now are charging me more for everything I sell! On top of the 11% now they added 5%. This is unreal! So can anyone just say no I don't want this and it hurts the buyer and Ebay doesn't care? Is there anything I can do? Or not do? I'm lost but this is going to kill me here. I won't be making anything. Suggestions please!!!

Next time post the following on the title "DAMAGE, SELLING AS IS". Most people don't read the descriptions any more...
Good luck on your seller journey.

You need to consider that a lot of buyers are using eBay's mobile app to browse listings on eBay and don't bother to click on the title to see the item description. In fact it seems most people don't bother to read at all. Pet peeve of mine! Unfortunately when you only sell in one category those return defects will pile up quickly. As I see it your only option is to raise your prices to capture the increased fees.

Good descriptions would help.
More photos would help.
Are you using stock photos?

I looked through a heap of your solds and I could not find anything that you listed as other than brand new and/or mint condition.
"It said it was broken in the title, description, and about 6 pics of just the cracks" ?????
Can you give us an item number?

Is this the Immortal She Hulk one? You state in the title the case is cracked and also in the description - it does state in the description that the crack is barely noticeable. Is that what the Buyer is unhappy about?
I would know from the title, the description and the pix that it is cracked - mostly because you told me so. 🙂
I really do not see how this one could be ruled against you, as the damage is in writing and the photos?
Wondering if it is because you listed it as "Like New" with a cracked case. Does Like New mean no damage at all?

Unfortunately, as you do not accept Buyer returns, it meant the Buyer had to invent a reason to return your item.
I went back to the listing - the rating that you chose is for the Comic Book only, correct (Like New and Rated Near Mint, 9.8)? The comic book inside is in excellent condition, it is just the plastic case it is in that is not?
The issue with this is that it was rated 9.8 by a rating service when the case was not cracked, correct? Your buyer had to know this as the pix and description detail all of it. I think the issue with the SNAD is that the item specifics still show this as rated as a 9.8 (Mint/near Mint) and am guessing with a cracked case, the rating service would deduct for that?
Really unfortunate. It must be tied to be stated as the 9.8 rating which would not apply due to the cracked case?

Sometimes I'm amazed by the advice people give on these boards. Raise prices? How's that going to help? All that will do is make the listings uncompetitive with other sellers and the sales will go down, which will likely extend the below standard period.

The real answer here is it doesn't matter if the damage was disclosed or not. Buyers are allowed to lie and invent any reason they want to claim about an item and they will get their money back no matter how well you can prove they're lying, no matter how you show what they're complaining about was disclosed in the listing. That's how eBay works right now.
The only recourse you have is to insist they return the item for a refund. This item would have easily resold to someone else. Instead now you have nothing.
That should always be the answer. Return for refund and remind buyer returning a different or altered item constitutes fraud and will be reported to the authorities.

Actually, raising prices allows the seller to get out of below standard.
You get out of the defect problem by selling less, not more.
And if you don't believe that, the cost of disbelief is 5%.

There is no contradiction in the listing. It is very clear and well stated, photographed. Seller needs to appeal to e-Bay and a live person.

Hey thanks for it. So I looked it seems a few were actually completely removed from my history. But yes, has happened twice with the cases ones being rated 9.8 but stating the case is cracked. So the rating apples for the comic. The comic is a 9.8 and then the company encases it to protect it. No damage was done to the comic. Those cases crack surprisingly easy but keep the comic very safe. Then another issue is comics can shoot up out of nowhere sons comic is 10$ today and tomorrow people are grabbing them as quickly as possible as it runs to 80$. Then it drops down to 30$. Well I've had people buy at 70, get it and they must realize it's now only worth 20 and they say it's damaged. Unless noted everything is sell is extremely MINT. Read my reviews.

you are shipping a lot of product and have good sales. My retunr rate gos between 1 to 1.3 percent retunr rate
I get steady returns of about 24 a year........2 a month
I have never seen my not as described rate or cant find it
I think all my returns must have neutral reasons for them
if I were you I woud sign up for 30 day free returns....
offering free returns means you wont get negs with a return
I would go for the TRS+ if you can.ebay takes care of those sellers

Thanks for the clarification, it is as I thought.
Please reach out to e-Bay on Facebook for Business - outline for them what you have for us. This should have gone a different direction. The 9.8 is for the comic only and the case is irrelevant to same.

Good luck to you!!
