Trading Sports Cards on ebay

Selling sports cards on ebay has revolutionized the hobby.  What would take it to the next level is if ebay came up with a way to enable the timeless process of card trading between collectors.  The money angle could be that ebay makes money once a trade is complete.  Perhaps a dollar per trade.

Not a good idea in my opinion.

It would open up a whole can of worms.

Traders who are not happy with what they received,

do they get a refund or do they get their card back?

How much would the refund be?

What if they claim the card they got back wasn't their card?

What if one trader is happy with the trade but the other trader isn't?

Too much to go wrong.

Pretty sure eBay is well satisfied with the way the sale of sports cards is handled now.

The eBay vault is now open for business.
Now you have a better way to buy, sell, and store your high-value trading cards.

I highly doubt any entity would facilitate a trade between collectors for a $1, less expenses, taxes, etc.

Besides all the obvious problems, such as those @inhawaii  pointed out, why would eBay wish to alienate all its sports cards sellers by facilitating a kind of barter among collectors?

How likely are you to see this on eBay:   "Don't rush to buy the cards you want!  Maybe you can get them in trade!  You'll spend only one dollar and  clear out the stuff you don't want any more!"

If you think this kind of trading is viable on-line, with strangers trading among themselves cards that are sight unseen, then start a website and do it.

Are there local sports card collecting clubs?  I participate at stamp and postcard and coin clubs, and know of mineral/rock and even bottle collecting clubs, but I've never heard of a Sports Card club that meets in person to discuss sports cards and all the facets of collecting sports cards.
