Trading Cards

So I sell Trading Cards.. Mainly Baseball, Basketball, and Football and usually like to set up Variation listings to sell sets so that people can choose cards they want and buy 1 or many..  My goal typically is for people to by 3+ per transaction etc. because I know that's typically the best bang for my buck considering fees.

One question I have though is I noticed when an item for 0.99c is sold, let's say a customer only chooses 1 card, the final value fee is .30c along with the % which automatically brings that sale down to 0.55-0.56c.  On top of that typically a "letter" through eBay to print the label is 0.53c.  So in turn if you sell a trading card and ship it in an envelope you are basically making 3 cents per card?  If that's 100% the case why do so many sellers have listings like this and sell cards even separately for 0.99?  Is there something I am missing, do people just do small sales for feedback as well?

I guess I will focus mainly on getting consumers to buy in bulk or focus on listing a lot of high priced cards to supplement as well.  I tend to make the most money off of setting up Variation Listings though in the long run it seems.

Trading Cards

To make literally anything you have to charge at least $1.29/card and then give discounts after that for items in a single sale purchased (because they will literally buy just one card for .99)

It's a money loser for them and either they don't understand it or don't care. With the constant costs of top-loaders skyrocketing along with everything else. Makes little or no sense to me. Now with the fee increases as well, it makes less and less sense.

I guess some people think making anything is a good thing and don't take the time to realize that for every .99 card they sell they are literally losing money on every transaction. You're literally better off just dumping them in bulk lots then having every transaction result in a loss.
