Tracking says rescheduled to next delivery day from a week ago?

Hello I shipped this item July 28th and on the 31st it was out for delivery. I had thought it was delivered and just now the buyer opened a case against me saying they haven't received it. I looked at the tracking and it says Rescheduled to next Delivery Day on the 31st? Here is the tracking info. Can someone tell me what I'm supposed to do?

The tracking shows " item was returned to the Post Office for address verification on July 31, 2020 at 3:19 pm in EDISON, NJ 08817 because of an incomplete address. Your item will go out for delivery on the next business day if the address can be verified"   

As of 8/7 it does not show delivery so the PO couldn't verify the address.   Did you print your label from eBay?  Did you verify the ship to address w/ your buyer to make sure it is current?  Many only change 1 out of the 4 possible addresses in an eBay account.  There is a good possibility that w/o the correct address the package will be shipped back to you.  Please be aware this can take a very long time.  Keep watching the tracking. Keep communicating w/ the buyer and get to the bottom of the address problem.  Your buyer maybe patient enough for you to reship.  If not, since the tracking can not show"delivered" , you are responsible and must refund the buyer.

Hello.  No  I didn't print the address out. I wrote it on the box. I wrote exactly what his address said, and now I just double checked with him and he said it is correct, so I have no clue why it says there was an incomplete address? I opened up a case on USPS but I have not heard back yet.

You should look a little closer at the tracking.  There is a big red "ALERT" on it.   The notes on the tracking says "Your item was returned to the Post Office for address verification on July 31, 2020 at 3:19 pm in EDISON, NJ 08817 because of an incomplete address. Your item will go out for delivery on the next business day if the address can be verified."

I would ask the buyer to contact their local PO and see if they can figure out what the problem is and where the package is.  Or you can call the buyer's local PO.  Whichever works.

In the meantime, file for a Trace on the package.  And let your buyer know you are doing that.  But then tomorrow someone should contact that PO and see if you can get any information.  

I'd also let the buyer know that the PO is saying the address they provided you was incomplete in some way.

FYI, if it turns out to be true that the buyer made a mistake with their address, make sure you contact Ebay and give them that proof so that the INR can be closed in your favor.

Thanks for the response. The buyer said he contacted the post office and they told him they have no idea where the package is? I filed a missing mail search and another search and they were supposed to get back to me within a day and never did. In the past when I have had a problem they always got back to me. How do I file for a trace on the package? The buyer says it was their correct address. I need to respond to my case tomorrow.

The USPS never got back to me and today Ebay gave the buyer a $60 refund and I also lost $10 shipping, and who knows what happened to the package. They may still deliver to the buyer. I am really fed up with the usps right now.
