Hi, I recently got two dings on "tracking not uploaded & verified".
A seller bought an item, paid shipping and then decided that she wants it shipped FedEx Next Day using her FedEx account. She sent me a label, I shipped the item and refunded the shipping that she had paid me.
In the next a seller bought an item, paid and then asked me to hold off shipping until he got back from vacation which I did.
Is there anyway to get these dings removed ? Also, what should I have done ?
Thanks for any input.

Were you not able to upload the tracking number provided by the buyer to your sold listing?
As far as holding a package per a buyer's request, some do this and others won't. Ebay provides a small leeway on your shipping metrics for things like this, but your tolerance should dictate whether you accommodate this request or not. Some tell buyers they can't and to have their mail held at the post office until they return. Others do as you did.

These are both things you should never do. However, for the first one all you needed to do was manually upload the FedEx tracking number to the order details. The second, tell the buyer to have their mail forwarded or held, otherwise cancel and let them buy later.

In this case you should have typed the tracking into the order …you failed to do that so you got a defect.

There where two things you could have done to prevent a defect on this transaction.
1. You should have just shipped. The buyer can’t change your TOS the buyer could’ve easily had the PO put a hold on their mail.
2. You could have canceled the transaction. The buyer could’ve purchased when they returned from vacation.

No, those defects will be on your account for 12 months. You could try to get them removed but I doubt it.

I'm grateful for the replies. Two related questions:
Some of the items that I sell are large and ship either by UPS or freight. Listings usually say free pick up and also give a price for shipping. For a large item shipping can be expensive so customers sometimes opt to pick up rather than have an item shipped. How should I handle tracking in the case of a pick up ?
Related : if an item is pickup only how should I handle tracking ?
Thanks again

What would be the point of measuring how often you uploaded tracking on time if they don't count the times you failed to upload it on time?
Also, what should I have done ?
You should have uploaded the tracking on time. You had the label so there is really no excuse.
then decided that she wants it shipped FedEx Next Day using her FedEx account
You should not have agreed to this. The buyer can probably redirect that package and void your seller protection.

If an item is local pick up, the buyer will receive a QR code when they buy the item.
When they pick up the item, you scan their QR code using the app or you enter the number in the order.

In the future, it is the SELLER who sets shipping, not the buyer. You have opened yourself up to an item not received case. They buyer could have that package sent elsewhere, collect it later, and claim it hasn't arrived to the address that eBay told you to ship it too. You might not have heard the last of this buyer.
You lost your seller protection.

Something that hasn't been brought up regarding the first issue is a problem when a buyer claims to use their own Fedex account.
What often happens is that the buyer is using an account that has been hacked or using a stolen c.c. and when the original owner of the Fedex account disputes the charge, ebay comes back and recharges you for that Fedex shipment.
NEVER ever change the way YOU want to ship your items. If buyers don't like your terms, let them find a different seller.

Here is my dilemma. One of my listings says
