Totally weird transaction....help....

I bought a really beautiful Art Nouveau pillow cover from WA state...was supposed to be two of them, and was supposed to be blue.  Got ONE and it was yellow.  Messaged the seller and got a reply we have refunded you and just donate the one or keep it.  OK.

So I go to my bank, no refund yet.  Go to Purchase History...and dang if there isn't an item UNPAID...the blue pillow cover!  I am not paying for it (because I have no idea at this point what I will get), and I have NO idea how it got there.  How does this happen????  What do I do...I have never not paid for anything that I won or BIN'd.  There is also no way to cancel it.  Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Why the seller didn't just offer to send me what I ordered.....I have no idea.  I didn't want a refund, I just want what I bought.

Also...more weird...the original sold listing is gone from my Purchase History. Do Do Do Do. I am at a loss here. I have messaged the seller to cancel my order ( the one that has just popped up). We'll see what happens.

If you paid with a credit card, that's where the refund will eventually show up. It can take a few weeks until you see the credit on your statement.

Don't worry about the unpaid claim. Technically the item is not paid for since you were refunded. That is just eBay's clumsy way of putting it. Nothing will be done against your account, and it will age off in a few weeks. So, just ignore it.

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.

My guess it is cheaper for the seller to just refund and let it go rather than having to pay another ship cost. They probably blocked you at this point also.

I have never seen it happen this way, perhaps the seller marked the item as UNPAID? And that's why it appears as thus on the Purchase History? But why is there no Cancel on the dropdown list, is it because it's been days since the original sale?

And they can block me all they want, there are hundreds of thousands of these for sale on line. But it is yet another reason to shop elsewhere.

Refunded items show up in an unpaid status for awhile. It will go away. I've had items stuck there for what seemed like a couple of weeks! You don't need to do anything. I promise it will go away.

Not sure how you haven't. Any time an item is refunded it shows up as unpaid

As for it not being in your purchase history now if you scroll down further it should be at the bottom of your purchase history page

It goes to UNPAID because you didn't open a return for the item, so ebay doesn't know that you paid and were refunded through Paypal. If it shows unpaid, you DID get your refund. It takes several days for paypal to process it. The seller didn't do anything other than refund you in full for an error made in shipping.

When a refund is made the item becomes unpaid

In my experience, it goes to "Unpaid" even if a return case was filed.

Perfect sense - it is "unpaid" because they refunded.  You should probably cancel the transaction though so it cant cause you to get an unpaid strike.  It is possible that the seller swapped labels on the packages (it happens all the time) and if he only had ONE, he may have a very hard time getting yours back to reship and he cant just ship out another one.  So cancel the buy and feel free to move on to a new seller.  Good luck finding another cover!

They were paid and refunded, they can't get an unpaid item strike.

I did get the promised refund, it just irks me to see that 'unpaid' item stare me in the face...I always pay for what I buy here.

There is no cancel on the dropdown...I looked. I found more covers, there are thousands of them out there. Made in China but good quality...I am going to add handles to make them into tote bags to sell at the local Flea Market.

Also, I figure that since the change in the format of the Purchase History and the fact that I didn't open a formal 'case' causes the unpaid to be at the top of the page that come up, like another poster said, it used to show up at the bottom. I'll just hit 'orders' and ignore it. Thanks all! And Happy Spring!!!
