How about a thread that encourages people to work within the rules and guidelines of Ebay? Those people would have a much more pleasent experience as buyers and sellers if they just operated within those "limitations", instead of constantly complaining about them, no?
Thoughts?

If you do that you're jumped on and called a shill and an Ebay employee.

I certainly wouldn't mind less complaining around here! 😉
But a ranter's gonna rant and we can't force them to change their outlook.

If you list and sell it then 3 months later it gets relisted again and sold without your knowing about it. Once the error is caught and you cancel the order ebay gives you a defect and your buyer labels you a no good lying thief both problems were caused by ebay, but because they don't follow the rules and guidelines you are the one that suffers, but sellers should just be quiet about it and not complain?

The majority of complaints posted here are legitmate so sorry it can't be all peaches and cream for you folks if you step up and offer to absorb some of the monetary losses incured by sellers they might come around to your way of thinking....

Majority are legitimate? There's a pretty good percentage of sellers causing their own problems then complaining because they can't punish the buyer for being unhappy.

First I'd say that many, if not most of the people coming here with problems think they are following guidelines. It's just when they get that unpleasant surprise do they come here.
Many long time sellers are still working by the 'old' rules. True, they need to keep up on changes, but it's very easy to just continue 'as usual' because you think it's still ok.
Also, do you know how difficult it must be to be a new seller?
Learning the rules now can be astronomical, compared to many of us who've been here for years and took the changes one step at a time.
I'm not sure there is a clear and concise page for new sellers which tells them the most important things to do, or not do. I do know there is pages upon pages of policies though...
And also, when sellers see other listings doing .. something... it's natural to assume it's 'ok' with eBay, since those 'wrong' listings or terms are still up.

Hi bubble. I agree there are a LOT of legit complaints and they certainly should be posted here.
I was referring more to a certain handful of posters who create the same thread over and over with the same conspiracy theories spouted day after day. That's what we could use a little less of.

I think you hit a nerve here. No one comes here to say what a wonderful experience they had selling on EBAY and that the system and policies are fair and work well. Do they?
That says a lot.

What makes you so sure sellers aren't working within the rules of ebay for the most part? Do you even sell here?
Sellers who don't follow the rules won't survive.

Actually that is the advice that most of us long time sellers give. We would never tell them to do otherwise, thereby jeopardizing their accounts.
We also advise that ebay is not for everyone and do not put all your eggs in one basket. If one place is not working, try something else.

I disagree. Many are because sellers do not read or keep up on the ever changing rules.
Or those that are upset because they have to follow ebay guidelines on what can and cannot be sold.
Or complain that ebay is hiding their items when frankly they are just not sellable.
Or those that are going to stick to their price no matter what and wonder why buyers are not willing to overpay.
Or those that make mistakes, either willingly, or unonsciously, and will not accept they are consequences of their own making.
Or those that yes ebay is not perfect, it will break down, search can be a PITA at times, it is crowded here with a lot of competition, but no site is perfect, and I have tried more than a few.

How much of a monetary loss should you incure because of ebays failure to enforce their policys. I have a 1000 rolls of obsolete priority tape worth $25.00 a roll I was issued a policy violation for listing it reason was impersonating a postal employee, but right now there are 180 active listings for priority tape and 15 different sellers are selling the tape and are given top billing by best match. In my world it should either be allowed or all of it removed ebay shouldn't be playing favorites one seller we'll allow to make money the other one we won't...

Community is the towheaded stepchild of customer service. It's a ploy to keep the phone lines free, and to placate the masses by spinning....incessant spinning.
There's a pervasive vacuousness by many who drop their insipid queries here, thinking they are going to get customer service. Woe are they!
