Tips on increasing selling limit for new dropshipper?

I recently started dropshipping on ebay but I find it difficult to start dropshipping while only being able to have a maximum of 3 items on sale. I saw that you could increase your selling limit if you're eligible but it seems like it would be hard to get sales this early with barely having any items for sale. Should I just be patient or do you have any tips on what to do?

After considering the facts of @valueaddedresource and if you still proceed with drop shipping, Until you accumulate some sales and show eBay that you are here to be a trusted and honest seller, your limits will continue to stay the same.  After than eBay will automatically increase your listing limits. Hang in there.

@elmanchego00 the first step in getting a higher selling limit would be to read eBay's drop shipping policies - if you're "drop shipping" from Walmart or Amazon, you're going to have a tough time.

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/posting-items/setting-postage-options/drop-shipping?id=4176

Drop shipping, where you fulfill orders directly from a wholesale supplier, is allowed on eBay. Remember that if you use drop shipping, you’re still responsible for the safe delivery of the item within the time frame stated in your listing and for the buyer’s overall satisfaction with their purchase.

However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay.

Activity that doesn’t follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including but not limited to: administratively ending or canceling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, loss of buyer or seller protections, and account suspension. All fees paid or payable in relation to listings or accounts on which we take any action will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account.

Keep in mind drop shipping  is risky.  You have no control on what, when or if they ship to your buyer.  Any returns or complaints fall on you.

Listings limits will ease as you build feedback.   New sellers just have to start small and work up.

Re: Tips on increasing selling limit for new dropshipper?

Ebay puts limits on new sellers because they want to make sure you are a reliable good seller for buyers. They want to see on time shipments, items received on time and as described among other things to show you aren't selling fraudulent items, etc. Ebay needs to trust you and trust takes time and consistency. You can request a limit increase once a month.

If you are dropshipping, especially if you don't "own" the items you are selling and only purchase your items when a buyer orders from you this is going to be especially difficult because you have no control over number of items in stock, if your agent sent the correct item, in condition described, on time, or even at all until a case is filed or buyer contacts you.

Re: Tips on increasing selling limit for new dropshipper?

Some buyers will get mad if they receive a box that says Amazon or Walmart.  They are thinking that they are getting the box from you.  I have read that some of these buyers truly detest these 2 retailers and avoid them by buying on Ebay.  They don't know that they are still getting the package from these 2 retailers.  Dropshipping is misleading to many buyers.   Anyway, goodluck.

P.S. I like your ebay name.  I love manchego cheese.

Drop shipping is a very risky business platform.  You do not have the items in your possession and this could cause problems for you especially if you get returns.  If it was me I would not drop ship as the outcome can be a very negative one.  JMO

One cannot drop ship from a supply entity whom has not been authorized them to do so ESPECIALLY in the likes of Amazon, Walmart, Target, any retailer.  In fact, one is not supposed to use any of those entities as product sourcing.  They are not in the business of making resellers money and their policies state this quite matter of fact like up to and including seeking lawful damages as well as all fee's associated as a matter of legal action against any reseller who care do so.

People often want cite "First Sale Doctrine" but that doesn't hold soup as items are purchased with intent to profit, not something one just bought, didn't like, never used and thus wanted sell.  The moment its intent for profit First Sale Doctrine is out the window in any court of law in the land.

It is not up to Walmart or Amazon or any other entity to inform a reseller as to their policies.  It is up to the reseller to inquire with management as to prospect of resale.  ALL of these entities have reseller channels for things like store returns, on and on whereby resellers can purchase these items accordingly.

I know that you aren't supposed to drop ship from those.  I was just mentioning that often buyers get annoyed and feel that they were deceived.

Yep, understood.  I mean pretty much anyone would be I'd guess.  There are times when someone might sell something can't seem located, broken, this/that and turn to another reseller to drop ship.  Back in the day I remember trying work with this place who mastered computer CD's with all sorts of public domain information on them, compilations of materials in navigable format.  They'd hundreds of different materials and some pretty cool stuff but they set price and reseller get their cut per se.  Never quite took off but they did have some pretty cool stuff.

Many folks shop the Goodwill's and such, heck, I have to at times and that's always been a "Hmm" for me.  So much that's there is given to them by folks freely, then resold, resellers resell again but as a charity goes Goodwill's been implicated it lots of folks in management getting filthy rich and the charity isn't quite so charitable after all.  We'd several organizations here who'd charitable thrift out of business now, Vietnam Vets, American Vets, Volunteers of America all did great community work, put under by Goodwill.  Salvation Army has even struggled.
