This platform is dead, ebay is a joke now.  Sells are not supposed to be in the toilet during Dec!  Great 4th quarter you created with advanced promoted listings and then the Oct 12 updates.  Can you screw things up any worse?

It is the slowest 4th quarter we have ever had.

I guess it depends on what you are selling. I have a record year, record quarter going on. Sales slowed a bit this week, I'm assuming because of Christmas and the devastation the Midwest took. But I'm hoping to finish strong in December.

You've only been here since March 2020 - you need a little more experience under your belt before making grand pronouncements.  In fact, December is often SLOW for many sellers, depending upon your market.

I don't need to be around 20 years to see management is running this platform into the ground.  Understand this,  this disaster of 4th quarter was caused by ebay itself!!!  1st with Advanced promoted listings launch (killed search buried listings) then with Oct 12 update.  Take a second to honestly think about how much this company cost itself and US (ME), it's gotta be in the billions

It looks like you have 40 sales in the first 15 days this month. 

It looks like you had 39 sales in the first 15 days of October. 

It looks like you had 44 sales in the last 15 days of September. 

How long ago did your sales go dead?

Most people in the US did not receive a cost of living adjustment due to covid. Inflation was over 6%. Essentially, even those of us who did get a raise got a 4% pay cut this year.

Also, there's a Black Friday boycott going on and people are generally just not feeling the spirit of capitalism this year.

This isn't eBay's fault... at least, it's not the result of anything that they did recently.

This platform was gasping its last in the early 2000s after Meg Whitman took the reins and tried to turn it into Amazon. None of what you're seeing right now is new or unusual.

Went dead whenever they launched advanced promoted listings, the numbers you posted are not correct and  pathetic at that When you average 100+ sales a month  with 1600+ items for sale

You can speak only for yourself, and just because your sales are not what you want them to be does not mean that eBay is "dead" or a "joke" for everyone else.

This is a huge marketplace, and some sellers do well some of the time, and some do well all of the time, and some never do well from the time they start to the time they're finished.

This, however, is my experience: The long-term, sucessful sellers are people who are self-reliant, flexible, adaptable problem-solvers who waste no time or energy in assessing blame.

Oh how we long for the days of Meg Whitman.  At the very least she did revel in the sense of community that prevailed once upon a time in a galaxy far, far, away.  Personally, I think the slow decline began with Donahoe who received his orders direct from the corporate overlords at Bain, one of the main proponents of vulture capitalism.

Go to the etsy forum and you will see thread after thread on slow sales,  including many the slowest  December ever.

Amazon's forum again,   slow sales.

I read an article yesterday about how buying trends are changing and people just aren't buying.    My daughters friends decided this year not to give presents to each other.   They are only giving them to the kids in their group.    We as a family decided only to give presents to the Grandkids.

 We have had over 40 years of an economy based on who can have the most shoes in their closet and I think this generation has said...I only need 3 pairs.

This generation also doesn't want knick-knacks, heavy furniture, sets of fancy china or silver flatware, big matched sets of books that will never be read, "collector" plates, bulky photo albums, plastic bins full of holiday decorations, and the like, or most of the other trappings of success accumulated by previous generations. 

The reality of the economy we've made for them means they will live in small spaces, and they will likely have to move many times during their working lives.  They need to travel light, and they're smart enough to do it.

My family is doing the same thing, only buying for the kids, and I know of many families in my community that are following suit. Money is tight this year and grocery prices are through the roof.  Last year we chose to isolate, so our focus this year is to simply enjoy time together and that's a gift in and of itself (as we now truly realize).
