International buyer didn't receive item. They opened a case and it was closed within minutes before we even knew about it.
We reviewed the case and have decided to issue the buyer a refund of US $32.34 without any impact to you. |
This case is now closed. You are not required to reimburse the buyer or eBay, and this case will not be counted in your seller performance evaluation. |

agreed....this has happened more than once.
---------------------------------------------------
The item in question has been deemed restricted. This could be due to import/shipping restrictions or eligibility requirements within the Global Shipping Program. The item will not be shipped forward to its final destination and will not be returned to you.
Don’t worry! Your buyer will be notified and refunded automatically by eBay within 72 hours. You will retain the buyer’s original payment. At this time, the transaction is considered complete, and no further action is needed.
-------------------------------------------------
..some customers like it because everything (shipping, tax, fees etc..) is paid upfront even though it appears that the actual postage is a bit higher...As a seller, beside the coverage like this, I like end-to-end-tracking and tell the buyer this is why we recommend it.
NOTE: This item did not appear on any restricted lists that I reviewed, but that's not my call

I love the GSP so much, my biggest regret is that I put off figuring out how it worked for my whole first 3 years of selling. Once I did learn how simple, scam-proof, ignorant-buyer-proof, and carrier-proof it was, all I could think was how many sales I had missed out on, those prior years. And I don't just mean BIN sales; for the items I opt to auction instead, SO often my highest bidders are international. I literally just had 2 auctions close a couple hours ago, to the same buyer, in China. And when I'm listing items for BIN I go ahead and price them a bit higher than I think they'd likely fetch (sometimes more than a bit!), because I can always mark them down in a few days if they're not getting much attention, but fairly often some international buyer will apparently find the price reasonable, and snatch it right up immediately!
Also, I don't know if this is the case for sellers in other parts of the U.S. but my packages go like a SLINGSHOT from Mobile, AL to Erlanger, KY, never had a single snag.
So in short, whenever I see that I made a GSP sale it's typically for dang good money and such a weightless feeling knowing that money will remain MINE, essentially no chance of it getting snatched back from me.

Thanks for sharing this. I had stopped using GSP during covid and every time I think I am about to jump back in, someone posts about the constant headaches with them. Need to remember that thousand use them daily with no issues. Appreciate your post @iart !

GSP selling/shipping is far from scam-proof, ignorant-buyer-proof.
There is protection from not received, and received damaged if the buyer goes through eBay with the complaint, but GSP sales are subject to the same scams that non GSP sales can be subjected to.

I have never sold off shore, and never will, however if we had access to the GSP I would consider it.

Nothing is scam proof on eBay but the GSP potentially serves as a deterrent to some scammers. There are far easier targets to go after.

Can you describe some?

@katzrul15 Katz, I remember it well & had to quit GSP for awhile b/c items were sitting for 3-4 weeks at the GSP center due to COVID carrier issues. I started back up again, maybe 6 months ago or so & everything has been since then.

The others are right, not scam-proof at all. Still have a variety of SNAD scams, but some scam options are lessened.
ETA: Though I haven't experienced one. My only attempted scam in all the year's I've been on Ebay was ID'd by me b/c they did NOT use GSP.

I'm not jack, but there are still SNADs. You'd have to send them money for a return label, then hope that they send your item back and not a box of air/rocks/phone books.

Good to hear something positive about scam-proof option. What if a buyer claims INAD - are you still covered?

Read the several replies above your question. No. There is no such thing as scam proof on Ebay (or anywhere for that matter).

Ok, thanks. I`ll pass it then.
As far as no scam proof anywhere -not true. PayPal still has it (when items sold on other platforms). Not far ago I won a cases with a scammer - first when she opened it with PP, and the second one-chargeback. But I agree that there is no scam proof on ebay.

Nope, still very true. People can still do chargebacks & if you won one, consider yourself lucky. Lots of people have lost against scammers on PP & via chargebacks. Most chargebacks are lost regardless of how much proof there is. There is really no such thing as scam-proof. That said, since 97, I've never been scammed as a buyer or a seller on Ebay & only had 1 attempted scam as a seller.
Your loss, GSP is great.
