Think I messed up!

Had 7 bidders on my iPhone. Listing ended. The buyer paid via PayPal. He had 100% positive feedback.  PayPal held money since I was a new seller. To get money quicker paypal said ship item and give tracking number. Ok done. Shipped item out, shipped at 10am. 430pm. eBay emails me and says that the account that purchased my item was unauthorized.  Great!  So I hurried up and did a USPS intercept. So far it made it to the desination facility. Ugh. If it ends up getting delivered. Will the USPS insurance I bought cover this?  I’m hoping the intercept works and it gets mailed back to me.

Did you go straight into your paypal account and the money was there.

Did you get the OK to ship.

Did you send to the address on the paypal account.

  If yes, then you are covered under ebay seller protection if it slips past interception.

Insurance is for items that get damaged or disappear during shipping.

My advice.  Are you trying for TRS.  If not, what I did was extend my handling time by a couple of days so that it gives time for ebay to send you these notices if there is a problem before you send it.

It was Ok to ship. Money was there. Just had a PayPal hold til I shipped and gave a tracking number. Sent to address on PayPal. Just sucks. Why are people so dishonest

There have always been dishonest people out there, but the Internet brought them out in droves.

Block this person.  And do know that cellphones are scam magnets.

But you did everything right.  On the 4th day after delivery confirmation shows delivered, call and ask that the funds be released.

I think you may be confused about the paypal hold. "Hold" in paypal is different from "pending". You should have completely received the money in paypal before sending the item. If the payment was "pending", then you did NOT completely receive the money. That is a technique the scammers use, have the money pending in ebay, then once you send the item, they pull the paypal payment back. Check to see if that is what happened. If so, and the intercept doesn't work to return your item to you, then your item is gone without ebay's assistance.

In the future, don't send your item if the paypal payment is "pending".

You didn't need to do the intercept.

You only have to have proof of shipment to win.

OP is stating he got an OK to ship.  Would not get that with a pending payment/

Also OP has not sold anything in a year which explains why he would have a paypal hold.

I got two such notices.  Both came 2 to 3 days after my usual delivery time.  Since I do not care about TRS, that is exactly what I did.  Gives ebay a chance to catch up and send out the notice.

So far so good.

It was pending it was on hold. PayPal stayed that the payment was on hold because I’m new seller. Funds will be released soon when I mark as shipped and add tracking info. So I did it right away because I want positive feedback as a seller for fast shipping.

Well, that is not exactly right.    A fake email notice might say that.  In reality it's on hold until 3 days after tracking shows delivery or 21 days if no tracking is supplied.    So saying it's on hold until you gave a tracking number worries me because a tracking number is not required to release a payment hold.
