Did you mean:

The low-ballers are out for the holidays...

I've got one who wrote an offer (it was low, but not ridiculously low), and he says "I know you want more money but this is all I'm offering" (along with the retired, disabled, blind, in a wheelchair, vet - OK I'm exaggerating here).

There is another one who is annoying me daily with his low offers to the point that I snapped at him for lecturing me about how everyone else sells their coins for less money so I should too. (For one, the ones that are less money are not graded, and in worse condition). My suggestion to this buyer is that if he's so good at finding better deals on the coins I sell, he should buy the coins from the other sellers. I don't need sales so badly that I'm willing to give my merchandise away.

A nicely worded reply thanking the buyer for their interest & that x dollars is the best you can do & that the price you quote is firm.

You may already be aware of this, but you can change your Best Offer settings to decline any offers below a certain price.

Doing that can alleviate some of the stress that stems from seeing lowball offers.

Probably resellers, you know people who buy stuff cheap on eBay, raise the price and then resell it on eBay.

Of course there are some upstanding eBay resellers/flippers that would never stoop to begging.

Re: The low-ballers are out for the holidays...

I actually raised all of my prices gradually up to by about 20% this holiday season because I had a bunch of unexpected issues, and problems (both professional and personal) that I had to try and reduce my workload. Turns out it didn’t stop my workload from skyrocketing at times (expected increased holiday sales).

So on the bright side I’ve learned some valuable information during my attempt to intentionally lower my sales from this unique holiday season that I plan to use for next season.

... And still I get buyers trying to message lowball me. I don’t even have OBOs.

Re: The low-ballers are out for the holidays...

And I cannot blame you for not wanting to giveaway your coins. I too had an annoying lowballer who wouldn't leave me alone on a collectable item. Everyday he would say " this is the best offer your going to ever get"...I mean it was really low offers he was sending out like 25% of asking price. I took at peek at his listings and found he was selling the same collectable categories I had listed for 5xs the money.

Yeah, I blasted him and blocked!

Re: The low-ballers are out for the holidays...

You have a much different buyer base than I do.

I just counteroffer with I can sell this item at $xxx.xx and state that I can ship today (or tomorrow) if paid for by 1:00pm CDT

I never get into a back and forth with a lot of verbiage. I keep it short and to the point.

Had a lowballer this week come in at $45 on a $165 asking price. He got to $100 on his second offer which is where I needed to be to close the deal.

I don't understand why some folks buy with their selling accounts.

The only thing I buy on the Store account is stuff for my business like bubble wrap, boxes, etc. And then only from established sellers that actually specialize in what they are selling. Plus ... you can only use the shipping supplies coupon on the selling account.

I have occasionally purchased inventory on eBay to flip (while doing research and finding one that is seriously underpriced) but NEVER on the Store account.

When you put people on your Block List you now have the option to prevent them from messaging you.

In my case it may not have become obvious were it not for this community, but at lower volumes and if you're doing mostly OOAK's it's not such a big deal. Once you get into MQ's there's definite risk, people will still steal your listings but it's even worse if you buy and sell with the same account.

Re: The low-ballers are out for the holidays...

When ever this happens, I just tell them the best deal that they are getting is X.  If they continue to ask for a lower price, I just go ahead and block them.  Its that simple.  The reason is, because in my experience this people are the people that tend to return items.  And a 35 to 40 lbs computer to ship back is about $80 to $100.  Its not worth my time, or effort to deal with cheap people.

Just scored on another lowballer. $50 offer on a $150 ask. Got him to $95 which worked for me. Love selling this stuff that falls into your lap for free.

That I am aware of (and do that when BO is enabled). The post in question refers to people sending eBay messages with their offer and a bunch of verbage about why they should get a discount.

I am aware I can block, but one of the buyers already bought a coin and it hasn't shipped yet, so I don't want to block until I ship his package on Sunday. (In case he tries to pay full price on something, I don't want to cause any issues).

This morning I told said buyer who offered me $15 on a $40 coin, that x dollars is the best I can do, and I feel that is very generous. Those types of replies haven't stopped him from submitting a new offer each night so I can wake up in the morning with a message from him and a ridiculously low offer.
