Good evening!
Apparently a bid that rolls in one second after auction endtime is counted? There must be a good reason, but it makes me uncomfortable somehow lol. Can anybody explain it for me, in simpletonese, please?
I want to know how a bid that comes in after an auction ended is still counted? What's the cutoff point, if not the endtime that's posted?
Thank you for helping me wrap my head around it.

A listing that shows an end time of 6:05 could end at any time before 6:06 -- i.e., from 6:05:00 to 6:05:59. Every auction ends at the exact same time as it began, including the seconds (unless of course the seller chooses to end it earlier).
As noted elsewhere in this thread, you can see the exact end time including the seconds if you scroll down to the bottom of the bid history to see the start time, which DOES show the seconds.

What is the listing number?

What you described cannot happen. Two reasons why a buyer may believe a bid came in after the auction ended:
1. Buyer looked at auction End Time in a location that didn’t show ‘seconds’ … so thought the auction ended when it still had seconds to go.
2. Buyer needs to reset the Time on their computer.

Google Correct Time Now before you bid. Don't rely on anything else.

I dunno but I'll go get it! Brb

Here is the listing number 365392874772

I didn't think of that, okay thank you.

You're right, my screen isn't showing me the endtime with seconds. If that's why it looks like that, then that's reassuring at least! No slippages! I kind of thought maybe there might be a built in margin on the timer, but I prefer it's just my display, somehow not showing the seconds..
Is there a switch I can toggle on, to make it show the seconds for the endtime too? It's showing seconds on the time of the bids, but not for the auction endtime.
Ps, I use my Android phone

It's a strange world we live in and "only the Shadow knows" or it is one of those infamous "glitches" that no one wants to raise their hand and stand up and admit "I done it" or your timer clock needs fine tuning or simply IDK

Could the mobile app have time delays depending on the users signal strength...???

The only time that matters is the time on the server at eBay that accepted the bid. Not every computer in the world is synchronized to that eBay server.
I am guess that you were bidding on an auction and you were out-bid at the last second by someone else? If that is the case, the root of the issue is that you did not bid more that everyone else.

I dunno about on an Android, but on my laptop the top of the bid history shows only the full minute, but if you scroll to the bottom of the bid history, you can see the exact start time including seconds which of course is the same as the end time.
The bid history display USED to show the full end time including seconds. Removing that bit of information was a bad choice, eBay!

No, it doesn't.
You are mistaken.

The auction started at 6:05:01 and the last bid came at 6:05:01.
The only issue is that the summary at the top omits the seconds. Annoying, but not nefarious or incorrect:
