The UPC bar code was first used in 1974. Item specifics wrong that require UPC before 1974.

Item specifics that want to know the Universal Product Code or bar code item has to be made 1974 or later such as records, toys, tools etc.  The bar code did not exist before 1974. Therefore, requiring a bar code number or UPC for an item made in the 1960s or earlier is illogical. Also, if it's missing its packaging it's not going to have a bar code even if it was marketed after 1974.

     Exactly. That is what I use in about 99% of my listings.

Someone complained that they had to use a bar code for a record or it wouldn't go through.
