The NEW listing layout is HORRIBLE. How do I get the old one back?

I am not a fan of the new listing layout eBay secretly implemented on both of my accounts.

Here is why it sucks:

1.) It no longer shows you exactly which category has a product catalog available. You just have to guess and search your product by using the "Find Product" link, which most of the time generates no results. Then, clicking on the continue listing without product selection ERASES YOUR TITLE COMPLETELY, making you type it all over again! What a waste of time!

2.) Advanced HTML options are automatically hidden everytime, and you have to click a link called "Advanced Editing" to show them. I use a lot of HTML including colors, so having to always click a button makes it another unnecessary step and waste of time.

3.) Glitches! I ran into many glitches, especially with the photo uploader. Sometimes, my photos won't upload or I can't drag and rearrange photos.

So please, how do I get the old layout back?!!

You're using sell similar. What do you mean which categories have a product catalog available? ebay's catalog has products in almost every consumer category. If the item is in ebay's catalog, the catalog page should be loaded if you've opted to display the catalog info.

The product & category is in the middle of the page. You haven't entered a title, so right now, there is only a category. No possible matches in the product catalog if you don't enter a title.

"Find a Product" top right side of the page; should you wish to look for an item in ebay's catalog.

Afaik, there is no reverse "look-up" to browse through the catalog by category, which I don't know why you'd want to do in the first place. if you enter enough product info to select your item's entry if it is in the catalog, but not too much to exclude possible matches, you should see the item if it is there. The "find your product" keywords should be sufficient to see if you have an item that might have the same specs as the item you're trying to list.

Since you're using sell similar, the first page where you'd find your item by keyword (text box), or instead "find item by browsing categories", it takes you directly to the actual listing page.

@innovatilife

I received an email message about the new listing tool a few days before eBay switched my account to use the new tool.  The email message has an opt-out link which I've not yet tried.  Check your email account inbox to see if you received the same message.

Here's the text of the message I received...

We're excited to introduce a few changes to make it easier for you to sell on eBay. We have created a new listing tool that allows you to:

  • Create listings using a simplified flow with half as many pages

  • Upload photos in the background while you edit your listings

  • Enter and track listings using your own SKUs

We have been testing the listing tool with a beta group of sellers and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Here's what they are saying:

“I love the new listing tool. It's easy to follow and picture uploading is way faster. Huge win!”
- Kathy T.
“The 'Sell Similar' functionality is AWESOME and will save so much time! Thank you!”
- Lynn D.
“LOVE IT! So user friendly! All on one page. Fast on-screen photo editing. Great update!”
- Heather C.

Now, it's your turn to experience these benefits. Over the coming days, you'll see changes to your listing tool that will help you to create listings faster and more easily. Of course, if you don't want your listings to be faster and easier, you can opt-out by clicking here or by contacting us.

As always, we welcome your comments. Please use the 'Send us your feedback' link in the tool or visit our discussion board to let us know what you think. We're looking forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
eBay Seller Team

You're the first person who has gotten a notice about the change. I went back and checked for some sort of notice about the change and found nothing nadda
The only way out is to call Ebay and ask to be switched back

My best advice is don't try to get the old one back, learn to acclimate to the new one.  I'm sure that's not what you want to hear, but eventually, as we all know esp with eBay, everything eventually changes.  It sucks at first, but once you get used to it, it won't be so bad.  And the sooner you get used to it, the easier/faster it will become.  Just accept that for the next week you are going to be listing slower than usual, and the week after that your speed will increase again.

I've had the form on my system for at least 3 weeks, and at first I thought the same thing.  I haven't found anything that wasn't on the old listing form, just have to access in a different way/spot.  Don't spend time fighting what you cannot fix, I have faith that you can do it, and increase your listing ease/speed again.  Now that I have the hang of it, I actually find it easier to use, and quicker, only one page, then listed 🙂

eBay!  Endlessly changing what works to what sounds good.

Hopefully, the people that control Turbo Lister are sane and will leave it alone.

We were originally advised that the Quick Listing tool was down as of the eveing of 5/16.  As of today I was told that it is no longer available to sellers that subscribe to an eBay store of any kind.  We were never notified of this change and many people are only able to use the QLT for many reasons one of which is uploading photos from their smart phones directly.  For what reason whould eBay care what listing tool we prefer to use?! It is still availabe to new member and non store subscribers so it is available.

The Quick Listing Tool was and is intended for newbie sellers only. It is in the process of being removed as an option for sellers with eBay Stores (the links will direct to the Advanced Listing Tool). This is the only information I have at this point. Sellers who can no longer access the Quick Listing tool cannot opt in for the Quick Listing tool.

Hi-- Not my selling account.  After reading this thread, I called eBay to change back to the old format.  I was told that the new format is an experiment and that it will take 24 to 48 hours to revert back to the old format.  I received no e message or any other notice.  I also asked about the photos.  I can no longer edit photos in a listing.  I was told that with all the new changes, the photo edit was dropped and that this will be permanent.  I now need to find a photo editing tool to edit before uploading.  I do not have one and have just relied on e's photo editing.  Any that you all would recommend? Thanks.

Hi Sandy,

Sorry, not sure how I messed up the 'In reply to'.   I just did a C&P but didn't pro0f-read that part.

Actually it's  not, you can try to list a car and then opt to switch back to the so called classic mode.

But they keep switching me over to the new one with absolutely no notice as well.

I hated it when I 1st saw it.  It was confusing.  I've listed a few new items this morning and the new form is growing on me~~I like it.  I use sell similar and I haven't had anything revert back to what was in the previous listing.  With the old form every time you changed a price, listing time, shipping method, etc. you had to sit and wait to make sure it changed to what you entered and didn't revert back.  This form is actually faster to list with.  After only a few listings I have the hang of it already.

How stupid that they think only newbie sellers are those without a store.

Why in the world would you think they are even concerned or considering who has stores or not?
