FYI the 2019 Seller Update Forum has been closed since "Traffic and engagement on this board have decreased":
I for one was finding the conversations to be quite active and lively! I guess we can keep the discussion going on this board. I'm still not in favor of forced GTC!

Need Buyitnow listings with a beginning, a middle and an end!
Not willing to keep listing any item indefinitely! No! Not!
Ebay must change this upcoming new ruling!

Maybe ebay decided to cancel the entire Seller Update altogether.
Thus, communication in the boards is no longer needed.

That was only part of it. I am worried it will get even worse. I feel like that is why they are breaking it up and giving it to us in pieces.

Eliminating the 30 day listing is a game changer for me.
I intend to spend MUCH less time on Ebay - I'm going to raise my prices, eliminate any offers, and only list things with some value. I can't bother with small items and the constant management of my listings. I wasn't happy about the managed payments over paypal anyway, so maybe it's just time.
Personally, retaining the "watchers" on listings is pointless. I watch things all the time, I have no intention of buying, I'm just interested in what it will sell for. Solidifying the URL I agree with, but Ebay can do that with 30 day renewals easily, I think the GTC is a fee grab from unsuspecting sellers that don't pay that much attention.
I've noticed that recently I'm getting a lot more spam-like emails from ebay, which I don't appreciate. Just because I looked at something out of curiosity, doesn't mean I'll be buying it or want to be hounded about it.

I pretty much feel the same way. I have been using GTC for years. I have always ended listings prior to roll over unless they have watchers. I then tweak the listing, price and "sell similar" to refresh. If they have watchers I will allow them to roll over for a total of 89 days. This strategy used to work well but it keeps me glued to my PC 24/7 and frankly.....nothing I try seems to do any good anymore. Like you said....watchers don`t guarantee sales.
I am not looking forward to managed payments or any new hoops for that matter. None of it is going to matter IMO unless ebay takes a long hard look into fixing search and site issues and neither seem to ever get any positive attention from them. There are site issues that have been broken here for years as I`m sure you know.

But usually I like a 7 Day Buyitnow with immediate payment and if item doesn’t sell I can take it off the market a while, make changes if and when I want, etc., etc.
I Like options. Not One size fits all! Individual choices for my business made by Me.......

IMO, I don't think they will scrap the entire Update. I believe they have closed down threads on new announcements after two days before.

It's amazing how no one has discussed another huge problem with the Spring 2019 Ebay update. Ebay is now limiting which categories will qualify for free listings when you list an auction. In other words, your free 50 listings are limited to only certain categories. Yes, another money grab by Ebay!

First off this is not the 2019 spring seller update. This is a partial spring update so sellers can take advantage of new features, seller hub enhancements and listing updates.
Also I can not find anything in the early seller update about limiting which categories will qualify for free insertions?
I am interesting in learning more about what you are saying so if you could help us out and supply us a link or where you read this, everyone will benefit. Thanks

From the Spring 2019 update....
For auction-style listings, you can use your zero insertion fee listings in the following categories only:

ROFLMREO
Ebay has no intentions of changing their minds until it hits their pocketbooks. Once they start losing more sellers, listings and again loss of sales then they might consider their poor decision. But that is the only thing that is going to cause them to change this decision. Ebay has never listened to Sellers as they consider us NOISE, period. But they do listen when it effects their revenue. Ebay is counting on this change to increase revenue and may be in for a surprise if revenue drops and that 1% growth suddenly becomes negative growth. Then they will have to do something quickly as the Activist Investor Elliott will be watching every move they make and the corresponding results.

Also the 2019 Spring update has not been released yet.

So, I blew in here gangbusters mad because I just now figured out global shipping is now an auto-fill option when you renew via phone app, and I just knew I'd checked my account under the master settings to exclude anywhere except the continental US - because I sell used saddles, new and used 'smalls' like spurs, reins, saddle pads, etc. I don't want to sell internationally... because headaches. While here raging about the shipping (And figuring out yes I did miss that box being on autofill for IDK how long, but also, I did figure out somehow, at some point, my master shipping settings had been cleared... and not by me), I saw the GTC change.
For a while, my listings have been auto-renewing, and it's been sorta... okay... It's not helped me sell anything tbh, just... it was out there on ebay land, cycling away in perpetuity.
Well. Okay.
But... here's my concern. IN THE PAST... I have listed an item, Buy it Now with Best Offer option. I've watched it not sell, watched it not sell, had no offers, only watchers, had an opportunity to vend at a rodeo. I've ended my listings early, one here, one there, to take Saddle XYZ with me to said event where I thought the market might be better to sell.
I've been here for a while with this id, many many years under my personal ID (Since 2001ish)... I've ended a total of 3 things early in my entire history
The last time, I got a nasty warning from eBay that I was suspected of cross posting and selling outside of ebay, many threats, blahblahblah. Bottom line - we'll start charging you a FVF.
Now... Okay. So, if we can't end listings as we see fit without a tacky notice and getting dinged a fee, and if we can't limit our listing times anymore, so we know if it's not sold, it 'goes off' and we're free to do whatever with it, then I feel like the moment I list something, it is no longer mine to sell as a see fit.
I mean, I get it - if there are bids on it, ending it because it's not going high as a seller would hope is dirty pool. But if I list the darn thing at BiN, best offer option is on, and it doesn't get much of a look, and I have a chance to end it, take it somewhere physically and sell it, that's something else altogether. Also, I pay for listing fees. It's not much, but I pay to play.
How are they going to handle those of us who go, y'know? This ain't sellin' chief. Maybe I can take it to the trade show next weekend and move it?
Are we just stuck with an item rolling over into renewal, in perpetuity, once it's listed?

I just responded a lengthy reply to your post & eBay deleted my post saying authentication failure.
It wouldn’t allow me to post an answer and I’m too spent now to repost it!
What is going on? Censorship?
